If there's a post on this already, sorry I couldn't find one.

It must have been a busy QMX website today at noon, I'm not 100% sure but based on my order number I think I'll be getting a number in the 500's and I did my ordering at around 1240. Either that or the order number has naught to do with the edition number. Anyone else get in on the model?

It's been a long time coming. Now the wait for the build and delivery.

I'll have to get a glass shop to make me a large glass cover......

I've been a model collector for a lot of years and this beauty will become the gem of the collection.

It'd be nice to see how folks display their BDRs. I suspect many will be the centre pieces of the various collections.

We want pics of them pretties when they are set up!

After an informative email from Firefly shipworks I'm told the order number does not relate to the serial number. He wouldn't elaborate further so I didn't push it. He did say they had not sold out yet though.

I'm not seeing any activity or talk here about people snagging a BDR for themselves....even on Firefly shipworks there were only a handful commenting that their orders were made. I think their level of workmanship/design dictated a price that's scared a lot of fans away.

No kidding! I'd have to win the lottery to get one. The price they quoted is more than I paid for my last two cars.... Combined!!!

PHOENIXROSE

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Yeah, I put myself on the pre-order list with the expectation that it would be around $500, maybe as much as $1000. When they sent me the email announcing the price, I felt like somone had ripped out my spleen. No way can I afford two grand for a model. I haven't even been able to replace my old computer yet; if I had an extra couple grand coming my way, it would go to a new computer. A nice computer, at that. the Big Damn Replica is gorgeous beyond words, but at the end of the day it's a gorgeous beyond words dust-collector that sits in the house looking pretty and not much else. When you can get a car or a computer or any manner of other useful things for that kind of money, and you don't have much money to spare, the gorgeous model replica does not win. Unfortunately.

Agreed PhoenixRose, although I'm not sure it was the spleen I felt when I saw the price, I think it was several things being abused at once.

I just laughed when I saw the price. I think they missed the news about the economy sucking. Is anyone surprised that they aren't sold out? How many million was it going to take to sell out? Crazy.

HISTORY

Personally, I was not surprised about the price, based on: (1) the level of detail and dedication to authenticity displayed on the Firefly Shipwork's webpage the past year, and (2) the cost of similar high quality replicas from the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises [for example, a Signature Edition Millennium Falcon will set you back $2500 to 2799].
So I was planning on this purchase for a while and opted for this in lieu of flying from Maine to L.A. for this year's Creation Con [tough choice, as they just added Nathan Fillion to the special guest roster today--even when he said he wouldn't because of his Castle commitments!; and he joins the other guests: Morena Baccarin, Adam Tudyk, Adam Baldwin, Mark Sheppard, and the Feldman brothers]. Wish I could do both, but even that is pushing it for me. For those who signed up on-line a few months back for a chance to purchase the BDR, a $500 discount was graciously provided, which was great of them. I know for many the price is still too high, but it would be more appropriate for Flans to praise QMx for making the BDR so well and wish them success in selling out every one of them. The more they sell out, the more profitable the license for Universal, the more possible a sequel of whatever sort. Over the years, QMx has done a marvelous job of making items of great quality for fans with pocketbooks and wallets of every size. We should thank them and continue to support them, even when we cannot buy every item.

I didn't need the hard sell, I made up my mind a long time ago that I would get one. I just felt a bit let down that I had to resort to the layaway deal. May is another long wait but I am sure it will not fail to impress.

It was going to be a holiday gift to myself but now it looks like a birthday present then......yeah, that works. :-)

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I signed up for the pre-order too, but when I saw the price I felt hopes of getting one slip right away. With everything going on there is just no way to justify spending that kind of coin on the replica. I'd really like to, but there are just too many other things that take priority.

STORYMARK

It looks great, but there's no way in hell I'd pay even half that price for a decoration.
