Just recently the Mass Effect 3 trailer was shown to the world. It got me thinking about a Firefly game. If you strip Mass Effect down and replace it with the verse of Firefly it would make an epic game. Like all the different world's in Mass effect could be replaced with worlds like Shadow and Boros.

Guns could be replaced and of course characters. You could pilot Serenity around the verse fighting the allience, reavers, doing smuggling missions on the side with and a thrilling main quest. I think that would make an epic RPG. I just wondered what everyone else thought.

I always felt that the KOTOR games would make a better base for a Firefly game, the Star Wars universe is more similar to Firefly than Mass Effect in my opinion and the look of KOTOR would really suit it, I'm really surprised there are no mods out there.

I also thought that something like the good ol' Jedi Academy games could work brilliantly as an action game platform (though this was back when they weren't so ancient, I just mean the style)

Overall though I agree with what you're saying and pretty much any of those Bioware games would be an excellent style for a Firefly game. I would especially like it if you could chose your own path like you can in Mass Effect and the others.

Well, first off, Word of God says Shadow was destroyed, so that would not be in any Firefly game. And secondly, there was indeed supposed to be a Firefly MMORPG, announced a few years ago, and shelved sometime last year. Sad story, that. It could make for a fun time.

I know a lot of people are into role playing games where you play against other live persons. I would love to see a Firefly game where you simply play against the computer, like Civilization. I guess I don't know the proper term for this kind of game though. I usually don't have a lot of time for gaming so I like to just save my settings and come back when I want and pick it back up.

Yes, I heard about that MMORPG as well but it was shelved before basically any development occurred.

While I agree that would be totally awesome I would still prefer a single player game like KOTOR or Mass Effect.

Toadsmoothy may also mean 'RTS' (Real Time Strategy) games.

I got me a Firefly Class runnin around (although I play it off-line) and it's about as close to in-universe as one can get, if one doesn't mind borrowing heavily on Freelancers backstory too.

No overarching plot, but it's still a cool way to spend your leisure time - and there are multiplayer servers, I just don't care for company in most MMOs cause the idea of spending my leisure time with trolls, griefers and potty mouthed kids doesn't sound like fun, yanno ?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Since I haven't played Mass Effect I really couldn't say if it would make a good platform for a Firefly based console RPG.

It was sad news about the MMORPG, which I was really looking forward to. I do of course play the RPG game for Serenity which is a lot of fun.

A firefly game along the lines of Mass Effect 2 would be awesome! I had a blast with Mass Effect 2, playing it through as good and bad characters. Hope Mass Effect 3 continues the awesomeness!

Incidentally, have you ever played Crimson Skies? It is pretty cool and the main character has a Mal-ish ness about him...

ETA: Borderlands also made me nostalgic for firefly because of its western-future theme.
