If Memeory serves correctly:
1)Doesn't NBC have a development deal with Nathan?

2) Universal has the rights to the movie, maybe not the series.. yet...

just wondering what ya'll thought of this

I don't think so. That was probably a one-year contract, which would have ended in late Jan. or early Feb. of this year.

Currently, Nathan (I almost typed "Mal" *sigh*) has a drama pilot with, yes, Fox Broadcating Co. called "Hollywood Division." Last I heard it may be picked up for a summer start. But the production company is, interestingly, Universal Network Television (affiliated with Universal Pictures).

HOLLYWOOD DIVISION (FOX) - Nathan Fillion ("Firefly") has been tapped to replace Matthew Settle as Det. Tommy Garrett in the drama pilot, which revolves around young detectives who infiltrate a Hollywood high school as well as go undercover inside the seedy side of young show business. James Foley ("At Close Range") has also come on board to direct the pilot, which comes from Universal Television and executive producers Barry Schindel ("Robbery Homicide Division") and Rob Port ("10-8").

Drama pilots "Ricochet," "Hollywood Division" and "One Big Happy" (now titled "The Deerings") and comedy pilots "Lucky Us," "The Quints" and "Related by Family" were all mentioned by name as being likely targets for a summer start. The network plans to launch at least two new comedies and two new dramas this summer.

Are we hinting at Firefly being ported to NBC after Serenity?

Ain't. We. Just.

I'm all for it, but I just can't imagine a futuristic show on a Big 3 network, especially after the more accessible Century City was quickly cancelled on CBS.

Fillion's new show sounds an awful lot like a remake of 21 Jump Street (for those of you that remember that turkey, it did at least launch a few careers, most notably Johnny Depp's) - Gonna go out on a limb here and bet that even if it does make summer rotation, it isnt gonna last long-

As of Monday, Fvx listed its summer series and put times to them. Quints was among them -- or at least there's a series called Quintuplets. Haven't seen a single word on Hollywood Division for some time now. So far, so bad for Nathan.

Not so bad. After all, he's already got a pretty decent gig for the summer...

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I am not sure that it is a portent of doom that NBC & Universal merge. Hopefully NBC will leave Universal to conduct business as usual, which means leaving them alone to produce Serenity and let Universal take the show back to TV, which I hope is the ultimate goal. I will keep my fingers crossed that this is the case and NBC doesn't stick its nose into Universals plans for our crew.

As for Nathan's series, I am not holding my breath. There was lots of big plans for Nathan's series Alligator Poiint which NBC did film the pilot for, but canned before it even aired. I don't put much stock in anything NBC plans until it actually shows on TV. I do wish Nathan all the best, but I am not sure that NBC will be the place he finds a home.

I would love to see Nathan back on TV (preferably in tight pants and on Serenity where he belongs), but I'm not sure what to make of this. Even as an undercover cop, Nathan Fillion as a high school student? I mean, I know in Hollywood you can play a high school student right up till the point you join the AARP, but still. Someone please tell me I'm reading this wrong.

Actually, I think this could turn out better for our heroes than if no merger took place. I look at it like this: If there's one thing NBC's good at, it's pimping their own properties, so I'm expecting to see a lot of promotional appearances on NBC shows by the cast, and perhaps even Joss on the Tonight Show, somewhere close to the release of the BDM. And to my way of thinking, the first step to getting our show back on the air is for the movie to be a success at the box office. After that, even if NBC doesn't pick up the show, there are still other options (maybe Sci-Fi, but definitely nothing beginning with an F) that could be pursued. Am I wrong to be this optimistic?

one of my initial thoughts was that this might help the show ( if just the existing eps) find it's way on to sci-fi, since the new company "NBC-Universal" would own the Sci- Fi Channel.
