hey posters!

i'm about halfway through my fourth viewing of my firefly dvds (ok, ok, fourth time this week) and i wanted to know which scenes were your favorite. go comedic, a la plastic dinos, or philosophical, or both, as so often brillantly happens. i'm just curious. i have a couple, but i reserve my say until i finish my viewing.

me

~Mal- "how drunk was i last night?"
~Jayne- "i don't know. i passed out."

GUNHAND

Hmmm they all are?

Not gonna let me off with that are ya? Okay for shooting the single best one (this week I change my mind all the time) has to be when Mal just wastes Dobson without even breaking stride. That's how you do it by gum, none of that fancy speechifying or anything!

For the funny, either when Jayne says,"Why'd y'all order a dead guy for?" Or when Wash comes into the viewing room and does his,"Oh it's hideous!" thing.

"Oh hey, I got an idea. Instead of us hanging
around playing art critic till I get pinched by
the Man, how's about we move away from this
eerie-ass piece of work and get on with our
increasingly eerie-ass day, how's that?"

i love any and every scene in Out of Gas.

For funnys:

I love in Jaynestown all the reactions Simon has to whats going on "Son-of-a-bitch!" "This must be what going mad feels like" "No, this must be what going mad feels like" makes me crack up every time!

MAL: This is my scrap of nowhere. You go on and find your own.
SAFFRON: You can't just leave me here, on this
lifeless piece of crap moon...
MAL: Sure I can.
SAFFRON: I'll die.
MAL: Well, as a courtesy, you might start
getting busy on that, cause all this chatter ain't doin' me any kindness.

JMUDUKE

My favorite is when Niska's grunt is threatening to follow Mal to the very edge of the universe and Mal just kicks him into the jet engine. Took me completely by suprise and I laughed my ass off.

KALIMEERI

Two scenes come immediately to mind, both Mal moments

OOG: Mal, walking forward through the ship, closing every door, with that gorgeous hunk of music playing in the background

Message: Mal, looking into the camera with the snow falling, with that gorgeous hunk of music playing in the background

VERY very many favorite scenes, though, with all the characters

Safe: River dancing
Ariel: Jayne "Don't tell them what I did"
Serenity: Book "I think I'm on the wrong ship"
Bushwacked: Wash "Who's flying this thing?"
OOG: Zoe "You paid money for this?" - "Sorry, sir, won't do it again" (but you know she will)
HOG: Inara crying
Serenity: Kaylee "I love my captain"
Safe: Simon looking up at River when she's tied up, and deciding he will die with her

Jen dao mei.

AURAPTOR

America loves a winner!

2 more Mal moments.

Both from Serentity. 1st, the shot I think is the heart of the entire series...where Mal is in the bunker and just finds out his air support isn't coming. He's looking out and sees that the battle is lost. Right there, is where Mal loses his faith....
2nd shot, which I just noticed after watching the DVD (again). When they on the salvage job and the Alliance ship is passing them. You see Mals face, w/ the reflection of the Alliance ship seen on visor of his helment. It hits me later how significant that is after you know some of Mals history.

" They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself. "

DARKHOOD

The quote in my sig is one of my favourites. The Simon / Kaylee scene at the begining of Objects in Space is also good because I'm a big fan of the pair and we get to see Kaylee's feet . The scene between Mal / Bester / Kaylee in Out Of Gas always makes me laugh. So hard to pick just a few. 99% of all the episodes have scenes I love.

Mal's on the ground, about to get speared by Crow. A shot rings out. Crow is kneecapped.

Mal: Nice shot.

Jayne: I was aiming for his head.

There's just too many (The Crow/Mal sequence is a good one), but for me it would be the end of Ariel with Mal and Jayne

Experience has taught me that interest begets expectation, and expectation begets disappointment, so the key to avoiding disappointment is to avoid interest. A=B=C=A, or whatever

so, after the fourth viewing, one of my new favorite scenes is the very, very last one in out of gas. its where you find out the salesman was telling mal that another ship, not serenity, would stick with him, if he treated her right. but mal only has eyes for serenity. of course, this is just a recent addition to the kgb fav scenes collection. i'm sure i'll be adding more. gotta keep my thread up there.

me

~Mal- "how drunk was i last night?"
~Jayne- "i don't know. i passed out."
