Hi all,

I'm here in the US and would really like to get the Firefly DVD set to my brother who lives in Canada. If I were to ship it to him directly I know he'll have to pay a hefty duty on it. After thinking about this for awhile I've come up with the notion of sending him an email gift certificate to Amazon.com. I'd make it for some sum that's rounded up a bit from the cost of the dvd set. Seems like a good plan but I thought I'd run it past you folks to see if there are any hidden flaws. Appreciate any feedback you care to give.

You could try going directly to amazon.ca, ordering it from there, and having them ship it directly to him... Maybe if you order it from the Canadian site it'll avoid the duty.

I did this for a friend who lives on the East Coast. He got it within a week.

My sugestion would be to order it from a canadian retailer and have them ship it to your brother. In all honesty it would probably be the cheapest, easiest way to go about it. Try amazon.ca or futureshop.ca.

amazon.ca = no duty

And FYI, HMV has this 2/$80 rack for DVD sets (at least here in the 'peg) and Firefly is part of that. So, one could get Firefly and a Buffy or Angle season as well for not so much money. Anyway, food for thought

Yippie, no duty! Soon as I'm done here I'm going to get my brother hooked up with Firefly. Fringe benefit here is that he's got circle of friends who are all into Sci-Fi-Fan so as soon as he's into it I know he'll convert them. And so the fever spreads.

Thanks to everybody who responded to my post.
