Heads up on a possible place where the movie may have some scenes.

Hey, new time poster so I don't expect anyone to really believe what I'm saying, but I hope someone will find this credible. I was talking to a relative from California today and we were on the subject of how her high school was the same one they filmed the movie Orange County in. Then she mentioned that some sci-fi movie named Serenity was shooting there on her last few days before graduating. She said the sets looked really cheesy and thought it would be some stupid low-budget movie, but little did she know how great Firefly is. Now I am starting to believe that Joss might go for the whole cheesy 60s type sets to make it feel more like it, though he's got money galore to splurge on this project. From a few pictures I had seen previously, there were some cardboard backdrops in the desert, so I don't know.

She went to Diamond Ranch High School. Sorry if this was discussed previously.

Yes, you are right. Some the Browncoats at the OOB said that that was where some of filming was being done since they were being extras in the movie.

Well then you should know that the Official Serenity site just went online a few hours ago at www.serenitmovie.com. A whole lot of Browncoats from a number of places have congregated there already. Hell, some of the places I didn't even knew existed. But mainly from here or the OOB (Old Official Board).

It is sort of like a family reunion.

I just graduated from Diamond Ranch High school this year. It has been in a lot of movies and commercials so that's a definite possibility. It was in the movie Orange County as the main character's school as well as a scene from the movie "The Cell". There were Jack in the Box, Mc Donald's, PT Cruiser, and numerous other commercials filmed there as well. The school IS in California, but I don't recall any filming there at the end of this year. I could have missed it if it were a significant time after school let out though, being a senior I only had 4 classes. My school really looks sci/fi and extremely unusual. There are a lot of pictures of it out there because it's won dozens of architechtural awards so just google it if you want more pictures. Plus the link that was posted has some bad looking pictures of it. The only one that actually looks like my school is the largest one. On the exterior gymnasium picture, there is more of the building to the right that looks a lot more interesting that they don't have a picture of. Plus there is a lot more of the school that they didn't show as well. So yeah, your relative sounds pretty credible. I wonder if I know them. Would you be comfortable giving a name? (For my own curiousity), especially since we are both seniors from c/o '04 (Last of the originals, We are DR!!) Sorry too much school spirit there. I'm not usually like that. :)
