Wow. I was shocked to hear it. He was supposedly a very health-conscious guy; vegetarian, avoided drugs, etc.

I feel a real sense of loss. His music was fantastic. He was a great musician.:(

This past Saturday, Prince appeared at a Paisley Park dance party, where he reassured fans about his health status. The singer has often performed shows for the public at the studio.

"Wait a few days before you waste any prayers," he said, according to The New York Daily News.

The source had told E! News that earlier this week, Prince was supposed to meet up with a few people for dinner but canceled and said he was still not feeling well and he needed to reschedule.

Another source said the singer "has been sick since his plane had to have an emergency landing," adding, "He was very religious and adamant about not taking any sort of medication."

Prince also had epilepsy.

"I've never spoken about this before but I was born epileptic and I used to have seizures when I was young and my mother and father didn't know what to do or how to handle it, but they did the best they could with what little they had," he said on the PBS show Tavis Smiley in 2009. "My mother told me one day, I walked in to her, and said, 'Mom, I'm not gonna be sick anymore' and she said, 'Why?' and I said, 'Because an angel told me so.'"

"Now, I don't remember saying it, that's just what she told me," he said. "And from that point on I've been having to deal with a lot of things—getting teased a lot in school and you know, early in my career, I tried to compensate for that by being as flashy as I could and as noisy as I could."

I was shocked when I heard the news, I can't say I was his biggest fan, but "Purple Rain" is brilliant.

Even though I've been watching the news since I found out on Facebook, I still
can't believe it. I was shocked and saddened by the news..............saddest day.
I grew up on his music since he emerged on the music scene in the 70s.

RIP Prince

Art is a cry of distress from those who live out within themselves the destiny of humanity. Inside them turns the movement of the world; only an echo of it leaks out – the work of art.
-- Arnold Schoenberg, 1910.

Dianna Theadora Kenny, a professor of psychology and music at the University of Sydney, found that the late 50s and early 60s are the years the artists in her database were most likely to die. Kenney analyzed the deaths of over 12,000 popular musicians between the years of 1950 and 2014.

Because the vast majority of singers, actors, and performers are non-neurotypicals that are somewhere on the autism spectrum (yes, I include gays in this group) and the average life expectancy for this group is around 60. Whether through inherent genetic weakness, or drugs taken to quell anxiety or boredom, they tend to knock off about then. It's also why they get cancer so much, because the very connective tissue that forms the differences in brain structure also creates weaknesses in the structure of the body.

I also have a speculation that people with a square tip on the end of their nose are prone to strange illnesses, like Robin Williams, Michael J Fox, Billy Connoly all had it and they all had Parkinson's. Brigit Fonda has it and she has a hole in her heart. Megan Fox has it and she has OCD and clubbed thumbs and I'm sure other things will show up later...

Doctors have speculated that the formation of the brain in utero can affect formation of facial features and that illnesses can be detected by certain facial features. I'm sure the Gov't has a program for facial feature/genetic defects because how useful would THAT be to exploit that for your own purposes....

Average, Brenda.

I didn't say ALL of them, I said they "tend to"

And PS, I couldn't know enough about their health to tell you. Maybe they've had surgeries for things that would've killed them had they not had access to above average health care. I dunno.

Also, Two. EEK. You creeped out mah kid. And then she had to try it out...

Saw this video as well. It was funny. And shows how the mind of Prince worked. Certainly out there. But he's not , imo, malicious in the way Kanye is. I honestly don't know what to make of him. Probably never will.

As for what Kevin saw / experienced and what actually happened, it seems about how he said it. At least, the part about Prince's vault of music and such. Just saw reports of it on the news. Wonder how that'll play out now. What will be released. How frequently. If anything. My guess is it depends on the affairs of his estate, and what was in his will, assuming he had one. He had no known heirs. Like Elvis, and Michael Jackson, Prince's legacy will make a fortune, long after he's gone.

Gotta wonder about the Nordstrom boys wear though.

MAGDALENA

"No power in the 'verse can stop me!"

I loved him from his earliest stuff, through to some of his later things... growing up in Australia it was 10 years from the time I bought my first album to the time I got to see him live, and because I bought a single ticket I managed a front row seat!!!!! My excitement was only eclipsed by him lying on the stage directly in front of me, reaching a hand towards me, looking me in the eye and singing the first line of "When Doves Cry"!!!

"Dig if you will the picture, of you and I engaged in sex... the sweat of your body covers me, can you my darling, can you picture this?"

I was so shocked and upset when my partner told me about his sudden death... Too many of my favourite icons of music, screen and stage have died already this year... I will be every grateful that I DID get to have that experience on Easter Saturday in the Melbourne Tennis Centre in 1992, but it is such a loss to the world of music that his genius is gone...

Awesome story, Magdalena!

He was one of the first live concerts I went to in the early '80s. It really spoiled me for concerts ever since.
He put on a hell of a show.

Will there be people who kill a kid for having a disorder? Yeah, it happens all the time even without good diagnostic tools. They will still go to jail.

Will there be millions more who would use it to make their kids healthier? Absolutely.

So, in balance, what is your paranoid point here??
