CHRONOS

We've been talking about the schedule for the virtual shindigs on AIM and found out it's kind of a stretch for the European fans. 8PM EST is 2AM CET or 1AM GMT(UK). Since it's in the middle of the week (usually tuesdays) and most fans have work/school to go to in the morning, the attendance is becoming something to wish for. I was wondering if the shindings could take place on fridays or saturdays, when we can take our time to do it right. Please vote for the day of the week and time of day when it would suit you. Thank you everyone and keep flying.

I go for Sunday night for EU time zones.

This will mean that I don't need to get Simon to inject a syringe of adrenaline into my chest to keep me awake for the Shindig.

:D

Ok, we've discussed this on AIM today and decided on a test time for the new virtual shindig. The new time is: 9pm CET / 8pm GMT / 3pm EST / 12pm (noon) PST. We'll see how this works for us. Come and join us. You don't need diamonds the size of a pair of testicles to get an invite. We're on AIM and the name of the room is: Firefly. Keep flying.

Important people don't do field work.

Do you have your hands on a couple?

Kaylee: "What's so damn important about being proper? It don't mean nothing out here in the black."
Simon: "It means more out here. It's all I have..."

That seems quite reasonable to me. Although I won't be able to make it this weekend since I have to go to that silly Comic-Con thing

The Sunday afterward, though, should be good for me.

I won't be home until around 4 or so Sunday, PST, so I'll miss them from now on. I'm glad you'll be having more attendance, though - that's wonderful!! The last few I made it to were very quiet :P

Hugs! Have fun!

Sorry to be a BDN (=big damn nuisance), but can someone tell me how to get AOL instant messenger and how to take part please?

I'm sure this was in an earlier thread, so if you can point me at the right thread that will be enough.

Also, am I going to regret signing up for AIM? by this I mean - is it going to do anything to my PC, or mean I will get unsolicited emsails, or popups encouraging me to use AOL, or end up with spyware-type-things on my machine, or anything like that? Not that I'm paranoid you understand.

First of all, I don't think you have to worry about spyware or popups when installing or running AIM. I've been running it since the first shindig and didn't get any unwanted downloads.

If you'd like to join, visit www.aim.com and download the program from the upper left corner and install it. The installation is pretty standard, you just have to provide an email address and choose a username and password. Once the program is up and running (I'll describe this for the PC version), click the 'people' menu and choose 'send chat invitation'. In the window that opens put your nickname into the list of people to invite (upper half) and 'Firefly' into the lowerpart for the name of the chat room and click the send/invite button. This way you can invite yourself into the Firefly room anytime.

You can add the people there to your buddy list, so you can see who's online at the moment. I currently have 31 people just for the Firefly room, so it might take some time to get them all. I think there's also a posibility for someone to send you their buddy lists. For example you can click the 'setup +-' icon in the lower right corner of your buddy list and click 'add buddy' in the next window. Just type in the nickname (for example mine is Chronos FFF), press enter and close the window. Now you have me in your buddy list and can see if I'm online.

That's about it, for more info look me up online or write at aywyn@email.si. Keep flying.

edit: Oh, I also suggest that you try to use the same nick on AIM as you do here. You don't have to of course, It's just easier for people to recognize you. If the nick is taken try putting FFF at the end like I did.

Sundays, huh? Well I will have to take it week by week. Some Sundays I'm home by 4 and others it's 6pm. I like the idea of two nights. Of course Wednesdays are open since there is a lack of current sci-fi that night.

Anywho, you guys have fun. I'll be there if I can.
