CHRONICTHEHEDGEHOG

I'm currently writing the script for a film called "Sombrero Vampires of Doom!" In which vampires use sombreros to be able to walk around in the daytime. You can probably guess it's a comedy but it's also a big wet sloppy kiss to all the shows and movies that have influenced me and as such I'm trying to think of something from firefly to include. As an idea of what I'm looking for here's the opening (referencing Bubba Ho-Tep) and one of the scenes (referencing Angel):

-------------------------------------------------
Black screen, white text. Bubba Ho-Tep music in the background.

CAPTION:
Homage (v):
1. To pay reverence to by external action.

2. To cause to pay homage.

The caption fades.

CAPTION:
Rip-Off (n):
1. Theft.

2. Something, such as a film or story, that is clearly imitative of or based on something else

The caption fades.

-------------------------------------------------

HUNTER
In 1918 I fought with the wolf man in Berlin. When I killed him I tore this from his mouth:

He shows a tooth hanging around his neck.

HUNTER (CONT’D)

In 1946 I spent two days in Zambia wrestling with the zombie king until he fell, bloodied and beaten at my feet. In ’72 I fought with the devil’s own robot...

TIM
The devil made a robot?

HUNTER
Ah, El Diablo Robotico!
-------------------------------------------------

It's all in this vein, but I can't for the life of me think of what to use for firefly that would make sense within the context except for maybe telling one of the vampires "that hat makes you look like an idiot." However, if possible I'd like something that makes people go "What's that from? I'll find out and buy 20 copies of the DVD" I know any amount of quoting probably wouldn't achieve this (unless I advertised it as Sombrero Vampires of Doom! and instead just put Firefly on) So, any ideas?

LOL, that's great!!!

As for an idea for homage. You could (since it's a comedy) have one of the characters turn into a ship or become part of one in somewhat of a messed up comical way (Douglas Adams comes into mind here as well). Somewhat along the lines of River in Objects in Space.

Or you could have one character that you never see. He's just always mentioned as always being in his bunk

And there has to be something there with the couples. I'd just go to the gutter there so I'll stop now.

Sounds like a good film, keep us posted
