Space Shuttle Discovery will fly again in May 2005:

which is shortly after Serenity flies again in theatres.

I have high hopes for both.

America loves a winner!

Great news. I live in Atlanta, and will try (again) to catch the launch live. I say TRY , since the last time I went down there, the date was pushed back, thanks to some bone head Russian move which screwed up the docking hatch..way to go, Rooskies! So, I've not seen a launch yet, but sure has hell plan on tryin!

Also, in December, the Cassini space craft will release the Huygens probe and on or near Christmas 2004, land on one of Saturn's moons - Titan. Shiny!

Yeah, seems like alot of the Russian hardware has trouble, but can't fault their launch vehicles, cargo ships and crew capsules. Without them, Freedom would be uninhabited.

If you haven't already, you might check out "The Rocket Cam":

This is a camera+telemetry system that transmits live video and sometimes sound data back to a ground station. There is one shuttle launch which is pretty cool, and a bunch of other manned and unmanned launches, including spaceship one.

I've been watching Cassini Huygens with interest because I worked on it when I was an intern at JPL. Now that it has safely entered Saturnian orbit, I am sure that they wisely did not use any of my numbers. I hope the probe gets some good images (1100 are planned). And I hope the parachute deployment switches work, unlike Genesis'

Hope it floats in methane, too.
