Okay, guerilla marketing here I come. I work on a radio station and have a nice platform for abusing my position

Does anyone have any ideas on how the radio can be used to promote Firefly and Serenity?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

You can start by talking about how TV is overrun w/ reality shows, and how quality programs are getting axed or sidelined in favor of the scripted drama of reality programming. You could take an example, Firefly of course, and talk about how the fans pushed for a DVD release, got it, and how the DVD set surpassed 200,000 copies (I have not seen or heard recently of any more current figure, though I am sure we are well past a 1/4 million copies by now) and how the fanbase has boomed since the DVD release and announcement of the movie.

Just my suggestion.

Depends what kind of shows you can get your hands on if you can get a chance to do talk show kind of radio program then you could definately have the subject be the downfall of tv and start talking about firefly and serenity.

This is a pretty crazy radio idea.

You could use audio clips from the Firefly episodes and call random shopowners from the phonebook.

A listener would have to call in and have to guess how long the shopowner can have a conversation with any of the characters on the end of the line before hanging up.

Not an original radio idea, but pretty funny.(Not sure about clearing permission to use clips on radio though, but it could work.)

The competition winner could win a Firefly DVD (if guessed correctly.)

It's a thought...

I say, edit a bunch of Firefly audio clips into whatever music your station plays, and have it play constantly. Make sure, of course, that the Firefly clips match the feel and topic of each song.

Then, people will be all about finding out what those profound audio clips are in their favorite music, and see how amazingly powerful it is, and all that.

Oooh! Maybe you could give out Firefly DVDs as contest prizes! Or play "You can't take the sky from me" before the traffic chopper report!

Thanks guys, this is great.

I'll probably give all of these a try, this week we're teaching some Mandarin backed with the Firefly theme, which has got quite a response so far.

Cheers!

Glad to hear your guerilla marketing strategy is working so far.

Keep us posted on how it goes.
