LOSTINTHEBLACK

Just a few questions for you Browncoats out there:

What sort of music are you all into? I was curious to see if there's a common trend amongst us folk.

Any fans of the Brit-comedy Red Dwarf? Great show, second on my list (right after Firefly). Another example of a successful show leaving the air, then coming back strong with a film.

Lastly, and I know this question has had numerous threads dedicated to it, but I was wondering if anyone had found browncoats similar to Mal's? I fell in love with that coat before the show even started (just seeing teasers on TV), and I've been dying to get my hands on one like it ever since. That's it for this post. Take care, and keep those eyes open.

Hi, LOSTINTHEBLACK.
Musically, I like movie soundtracks (like The Matrix, The Crow, Conan the Barbarian, etc.), Techno, Industrial, Eighties (not the junk, and there was a lot of junk), Los Lobos, but especially ANYTHING Jerry Goldsmith ever touched.

Never saw Red Dwarf, but have heard great things 'bout it.

The coat...never been one to look too hard for things. If I had a mind to get one, I'd probably just make one myself, y'know, to get it just right.

OK lostintheblack, my entries are...

Musically, five words - Rush, Genesis, Blues, Celtic, Classical. (adding 2 more words, Status Quo)

I liked Red Dwarf, but wasn't a fanatic about it - I enjoyed watching it whenever I happened to catch it, but wouldn't buy the DVDs. I can understand why a person would get hooked on it, though.

As far as actual brown coats, I have an oilskin duster riding coat that is a decidedly brownish color. Problem is, I used to smoke, and you can't dry-clean or use any kind of detergent on an oilskin, so I don't like to wear it. It still smells, even years later. I'll make an exception for the BDM, though!

JAYNE "Pain is scary..."

Hmm... lemme see. I like rock music but I also like classical but lately I seemed to be buying a lot of soundtracks. I have the Phantom of the Opera(2004 movie I'm listening to it right now), Chicago, Farinheight 9/11 Queen of the Damned, The Pianst, two buffy soundtracks one being Radio Sunnydale. I also like The Killers, Dashboard Confessional, Weezer, Trust Company etc. I have mixed genre of music. I could go on but I would bore you. I guess depend what mood I am in.

EMMA

Music... hmmm

Voluntarily I like Divine Comedy, Santana, Joy Division, The Killers, Guns 'N' Roses, The cure, Tori Amos, Sisters of Mercy, Queen, Muse, etcetc

Involuntarily I am forced to listen to Rush, my dear beloved has the entire back-catalogue (which is vast) and gives me many traumas.

Generally though I like anything except nasty teeny-boppy type stuff, Drum and Bass and most Rap & R'n'B.

On a similar but different note is anyone going to Glastonbury Festival in June (near Glastonbury, SW England)?

I really should get me a signature

THESOMNAMBULIST

Hello LostintheBlack.

In terms of music - I tend to listen to film scores. Bernard Herrman, Dymitri Tiomkin(sp) Danny Elfman, Graeme Revell, Wendy Carlos etc.

I'm not really into bands so much, I was always frustrated that bands would split up! Used to annoy the hell outa me as a kid so I stuck to individual artists ~ I'm a product of the synthesizer age, which is why I'm about to embarrass myself with the list below:

Jean-Michel Jarre
Mark Shreeve
Leonard Cohen
Pat Methany
Yann Tiersen
Aphex Twin etc.....

(I took all the ribbing over my music at school so I can handle what ever criticisms come my way :P)

However there are always exceptions and notably:
Radiohead
Nine Inch Nails
Talking Heads
Joy Division are those exceptions :)

Red Dwarf Yep I really like the show - thing is over here in the UK it's always on some channel or other so there's been no need to buy it on DVD - although when they've had two episodes back to back I end up wishing I could watch more as it really works well over a season duration.

As for the Brown coat.... Well I'm not into fashion (something else I always took a ribbing for at School and College) so cant' help you out there. Besides if you're taking tips from me, you're in more trouble than you realise.

Still good chatting to you, all the best
The
