Can anyone confirmthat there is a Wendy's in the shopping centre and it's one that has the dining room open til 10pm?

Yep...
Wendy's Old Fashion Hamburgers
(704) 341-3667
7712 Rea Rd
Charlotte, NC 28277

The nice lady on the phone said the dining room's open 'til 11 on weekdays.

Now we're finishing this deal, and then maybe we'll come back for those morons who got themselves caught. You can't change that by getting all... bendy...

It's hard to tell without a map of everything, or a mall website, but I'm guessing, since the theatre is 7824 Rea Road, then anything with an address on the 7800 block ending with an even number would be adjacent to the theatre. The shopping senter might occupy more than just the 7800's, but for sure, those would be a good bet. That would include everything listed except Firebirds and Wendy's. But because they're on the next block, they may also be within walking distance. After the lunch rush, I could call Wendy's again...

I think I still vote for Qdoras, just because I don't like fast food, but if we decide to meet at Wendy's because it's open later, than I can always hop over to Qdoras and get food and then catch up with everyone at Wendy's. No biggie.

And that reminds me, Standp: this is how bad my high school education was. They decided to paint the school crest over the door of the cafeteria to inspire school spirit or some such nonsense. It had 3 words on it, one of them was "education". But when the sign was painted, it read "edumacation" (no lie. It was still there 2 yrs ago.)

Anyone know if there is a shorter/faster route than that?

flechette, when you got off 485, did you head north or south on Rea Road? And was it 25 minutes when you got off of 485 onto Rea or was it 25 mins when you got onto I485?

Travel time once on I485 to the shopping centre was 20-25 minutes. Stonecrest Shopping Centre is blantantly obvious once you exit off I485 - like less than 1 block - but I don't remember the North/South part will ask hubby tonight if he remembers -

It looks to a big centre, the movie complex is in the far back right area.

I meant what I said earlier - if you all want to go for Qdoba's - pls do! The only one who HAS to find me is Jadehand- if Qdoba's closes w/out us making it then he knows to check Wendy's! heh and I definitely prefer Q's to W's anyway -

Jadehand - I'll PM you next week w/ likely descriptions and my cell # just in case..

thanks, flechette, that's what I really needed to know. I'm coming from the south 77 to I485, so I really wanted to know how far it was from 485 and which way to turn, but if it's that close I'm sure I'll figure it out in no time.

Here's a question for everyone: what will you be wearing? Will people be dressing up?
I was just planning on wearing my "Where are you hiding, little girl?" River shirt (check out fray's cafepress shop, cute stuff!!) but if everyone's going to be decked out, I could throw a Kaylee costume together. All I need are a pair of kaylee-alls. And a teddy bear patch.

Well, Ash, there are so many places. Try the Marketplace up top. And then several people have cafepress shops: 10th Crew Member ( http://www.cafepress.com/10thcrew)
, Fray101 ( www.cafepress.com/fireflyclass) , Cabridges ( www.cafepress.com/bigredbutton)

for starters. I know there are more. Go to the One Trading Post Forum and you should find lots of people peddling merchandise.

I bought one of fray's River shirts and I LOVE it. My brother bought one of her Serenity shirts, but it hasn't come yet.

That should be enough to Firefly-ize your entire wardrobe and then some!
Happy shopping.

I mentioned that I might make brownies. Brownies are a go. I got all the stuff I needed at the grocery store yesterday.

On the UB, there's a thread about a cake contest. I could make a cake, and it's be the best cake EVER (okay, exaggeration, but it'd be good, real good) but cakes are messy to transport, serve, etc. Brownies are transportable, easier to make and serve, and well, I'm a chocoholic so I adore brownies.

I didn't really need to tell everyone all that, I just needed something to say to bump this back up to the top. I don't want any last minute people not knowing where to find us!

You have excellent taste and you are very wise. I wish to be your friend.

Yay! I have a new friend!

Here is my official stand on all things nutty: I am very fond of nuts, especially cashews, but they do not, REPEAT, do not belong in my brownies or chocolate chip cookies. They detract from the chocolateyness.

Plus, there's always going to be that one person with the nut allergy that will miss out on the fun.

OK. I just got a good question on the UB, so I'll post the answer here, too. Forgive me if you saw it over there.

The question was "Where is the banner and singing going to be?"

Here's my answer.

I'm hoping to get there around 8 (fingers crossed) I will grab a bite of food at the Shindig and then head over to the line. I expect a large number of people will be queing up by then. I figure that the line is the best place for the banner so that people who don't follow the boards can easily find it. I'll also keep the banner open in the theatre for anyone who missed it in the line.

The singing will be at 9:30 no matter where we are, still in line or already seated. So that could get a bit interesting.

The banner is 3'x6' so it'll be easy to spot.

Does that make sense, or am I completely incoherent now?

Makes perfect sense, Wren. It also makes you a good meeting spot.

Okay, everyone meet under the girl with the large banner!

I guess it'll help if we kind of pass the word around about the singing (that it's starting at 9:30 promptly) in case some of us are in the theater, some of us are still in line, some people are in the bathroom or concession lines..

I think most of us are going to swing by the burrito place for sustenance before hand. What is it called again? Qdobas? Scroll back up and find it. It's right in the shopping center. It closes at 9, though.

Feel free to bring brownies or any other delicious baked goodie! I'll probably be making several batches of brownies (one with nuts, just for Standp). But I love having a reason to bake, so it's just me tapping into my inner Betty Crocker. If I lived in Charlotte, I'd be inviting you all over for dinner before hand, just so I'd have an excuse to cook. If anyone else feels like bringing anything, by all means!!

Oh, and that reminds me: standp, how do you feel about almonds? I'm all out of pecans, but I have some lovely organic almonds.

I also am giddy with excitement. Don't know how I'll sleep Weds. night.

And Wren-so glad I made you laugh!!

Don't stress about your diet, standp. I'm on one, too, and brownies and ice cream are DEFINITELY not on it.
But this is what I think: I am going to be so wired that night that I'll be burning extra calories just standing around being wired that a brownie or two isn't going to make much of a difference. (These are the lies I tell myself.)
And if you're really worried-we could do pilates in line or something to work off the extra fat and calories.
And I'm being an EXTRA good girl this week to make up for my naughtiness on Thursday.

Any chance you'll be at the NCBDMPP?

P.S. Nice to see you on page 6!

FLECHETTE

Friend!

like you I love nuts - just not in my brownies or fudge even.

Just curious - what's your postion on frosting brownies?

to me the more chocolate the better - but I can understand the desire for less messy brownies too....

really looking forward to meeting all of you this Thursday!

And I'm being an EXTRA good girl this week to make up for my naughtiness on Thursday.

I could haul over a Bowflex in a trailer. It's actually very canon. We could say we're acting out Jayne and Book in the cargo bay. ( J/K )

I've been eating veggie subs all week myself in preparation for the "good but not good for you" food I'll be eating on the drive up I-85.
