Maybe you have a back up somehwere you don't know about? I can't believe they would do a system restore without backing up your stuff first, that's just rude and uncalled for.

*hugs*

You can probably get all you screencaps from your website serveer. So that's something.

Erm, speaking for myself, if we do a re-image on a drive, we don't backup, cause it takes too long, and its the users responcibillity to protect their data...
Had some user who lost loads of his work for that very reason, which was annoying when I told him he'd need to backup...

I'd like to make it known that rugby players are very nice to looks at---provided they have teeth. Nice strong arms and defined legts...sigh. My favortie is the beautifully sculpted ass of a footballer.

I hope we've all learned a very important lesson here...always have a backup. You can use disks or an external harddrive or another computer. It's best to have your data in two places.

Thanks for the hugs guys. Tis true that most of the stuff is indeed available from my site, am more upset about all my little templates etc that I use for wallpapers etc.

Why is life so cruel? Why? Why?

Oh hang on, going to see Serenity in a couple of weeks. Ok, feel a little better now!

Cricket is a very, very simple game:

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.

Each man that's in the side that's in goes out and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out.

When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in out.

When both sides have been in and out twice,
including the not outs, that's the end of the game.

What's hard about that?

Okay, slightly better explanation here:
http://www.cs.purdue.edu/homes/hosking/cricket/explanation.htm

*shuts up about cricket*

I played rugby, football, tennis and cricket at school but then again, games were compulsory.

Are we chatting again tonight later? Maybe around 10ish BST?

Oh, and

Oh I've gotten behind.

HUGS to Fray. I'm having a rotten day too.

TWG- THANK YOU for the mudslide. Just what I needed.

I was a girl scout and I quit because 1) I didn't have a leader and 2) I got sick of getting badges for doing stupid stuff like having fashion show and fixing our hair. I wanted to be a boyscout (I had a girlfriend that was) but my parents wouldn't let me. Wish I hadn't quit. BUT, I can still make a better fire than my brother, so it's all good.
I sang at the National Cathedral in DC for the girl scouts 75th anniversary. Didn't insult any dignitaries or get forcibly removed from anywhere, but I did get lost, which was scary because that place is full of long hallways full of suits of armour (scary for an 8 year old), and got my picture in the paper.

Rugby's much more interesting than american football.

Rugby is a proper mans game... none of that silly body armour like in american football...
why is it football anyway? I mean soccer football, you kick the ball, with your foot...
American Football you spend most of the time carrying the ball...

Its just, its just no, no, no i say!

You'll get no argument from me dear Citizen.

If the changes happen at work like I wan them to, I'll be able to get back on a team…Oh sweet joy that would be great! Wake up in the morning fresh and ready to play, hair braided, shorts and sports bra on and my bag on my shoulder...I loved getting ready at the field. I miss grass stains and strawberries on my thigh and tackling. I don’t miss that bloody knee brace. Yes, I miss tackling.

*assumes professorial lecture type face*

Ah, the perennial question of widening the appeal of sport (which is generally thought of as a socially acceptable way of continuing hostilities with a sensible level of casualties and a non arrestable way of comparing the size of your equipment hem hem) to the fairer and more elegantly langorous sex so that they will allow us to indulge out completely inexplicable obsessions and possibly even join in. A question that is more vexing than "why are we here?", that has more potential answers than "how do we get to Coventry?" and more controversial than "is Kylie Minogue's music any good?".

Without the aid of overhead projectors, explanatory videos and a team of highly efficient lab technicians, I will attempt to give an answer.

At its very basic level, sport is a mating ritual. It is designed to allow the opposite sex to view the virility of their men in a macho environment (I am struggling to fit golf, cricket, darts and snooker into this mental picture. Perhaps there is a type of lady attracted to hand eye co-ordination?) so it should reflect that simple and basic truth and have more appeal to ladies than just the very basic "lots of men running around in shorts" aspect.
Perhaps the losers should perform forfeits that diminish the testosterone and bring a little social reality back, like housework and childminding (not of course that it is un masculine to perform these but sport is a little primal, not that sportsmen are neanderthals either - oh god, dig that hole Gareth, you could reach China). Perhaps the forfeit should be more basic (like the local rules for playing pool at a pub near me), the losers must do a lap of the pitch starkers. Losing is not humiliating enough - I'm thinking compulsory karaoke or entry into a look alike competition could be an interesting side show at the end of a match.

Now, specifically cricket.

Whilst there is actually less padding involved than American Football (I'm in total agreement with Giles with regard to it being ironic that "a country that prides itself on its virility has to strap on large amounts of padding just to play rugby". Badly paraphrased, but you get my point - also, apologies to TWG & Serenity!) and more tactical play and intricacy than chess, I can appreciate that people sitting on the boundary for (up to) 5 days with very little to do can be monumentally dull. The current answer is to view a cricket match as a background event that is happening whilst you drink pimms/gossip/have a barbecue/drink pimms/do the crossword/drink pimms. This makes a pleasant social event and a nice day out in the summer drizzle (and looks like you are supporting whatever SO you came with), id doesn't enhance the interest of the game itself.
So, borrowing from other sports, I have thought of a list of things that could raise the adrenaline level somewhat.

Pinball= 10 minutes where the bowler bowls 3 balls at a time and you score triple the runs.

Football (soccer if you insist)= decide a match in the most arbitrary and unfair manner possible (a version of a penalty shoot out) and then compare hairstylists and aftershave.

Rugby= Have both teams do the Morecombe and Wise dance before a match and have a mass public bath and drinking match afterwards.

Ice Hockey= Have an organ playing random bits of Music Hall tunes at random moments in the match (if the organist thinks that enough people have fallen asleep).

Baseball= Have the audience's attention drawn back to the match when anything of note happens by having a train go around a track so they can watch the replays.

American football= Nope, can't think of anything as they take about the same length of time to play.

Tennis= reduce the teams to a maximum of 2 players. That'll get the buggers running a bit more!

Ultimately, the only way to make Cricketexciting is to drink enough pimms.

*lecture mode off*

I think that waffling should be an international sport in itself, and that I should be in the England team!

A little scatterbrained, but I hope that it is good enough as an initiation?

*He asks with his heart in his throat*
