They Died with Their Boots On was the last movie Olivia de Havilland and Errol Flynn made together and this was the last scene they ever filmed together.

Captain Blood was both of their's first movie, they are both great. Captain Blood a good man done wrong by a bad gov't and turns to crime as last resort.
He is great Captain and shares the booty amongst the crew.
Some of the best fighting scenes ever shot.

the Adventures of Robin was the mid-point of the pictures the two did together, again a good man done wrong by the corrupt gov't. You watch the opening scene in the castle where Sir Guy claims the throne and the suck-ups suck-up and Robin not only tells Sir Guy he is going to oppose him but he calls the rats out for what they are,

The Robin Hood Firefly parellels are many:
Little John, the biggest guy amongst the merry men
Jayne, the biggest guy with a girls name
Fryer Tuck, the religious man who joins the band thieves
Shepard Book, a religious man who joins the band thieves
Maid Merrian, a women of stature and the gov't who turns against it
Inara, a women of stature and the gov't who turns against it
ect....

so if you get the chance check both of those movies out and see if you can recognize the look of consternation that Inara is always giving Mal.

In filming, Joss and Jack Green have taken a page right out the best of the black and white film era and use light and shadow as much a camera angle more than "technique" to create the feeling of being in a real space. Serenity is beautiful to watch.

That's very interesting, Smgglr. I had never noticed the Robin Hood parallel. I like it! :)

I imagine that if Firefly had run long enough we would get dream sequence with the BDHs in the roles of Robin and his men....hahaha

Have you seen the STTNG episode where exactly that happens? It's great seeing Warf as a "merry man." :)

All I can say is I could stand to see our Captain in some Robin Hood-type tights!

There is scene in Adventures of Robin where Olivia de Havilian give Errol Flyn the once over look in his tights.
I resently noticed this and thought, I did not expect that type of behavior from her but then again he was a very good looking man and she a extremely good looking woman....

The scene where Robin tries to win Little John to there cause reminds of the scene from Out of Gas were Mal talks Jayne on to his side....
Errol Flynn looks like he is having so fun making this movie, too bad he got and gets no respect in Hollywood.
He created the hero/rogue action genera, everyone else is doing their version of him.
I know they are making a movie of Erro Flynn's early life on New Guinie in the 1920's, wonder who is playing Mr Flynn?

they have not remade Robin Hood in a decade, so I expect we will be getting a 21st Century version, it will probably star Will Smith because its time for the black guy in the lead version.....

yes I am being sarcastic....
