Oy!

What a fine group we have present today. Seems like most of the sickies took my advice seriously and came here for some life tonics.

I know, Tristan, that my trapeze bar lacks the class and style to which you are accustomed, but you are certainly welcome to swing from it any time you wish. Might be a bit cramped and uncomfortable with both of us on it at the same time, especially if we get out of sync with the swinging thing (myself, usually just like to hang motionless). Also, if you're going to wear the kilt up here, I'd prefer not to be so close to you. Just sayin'.

KelKhil/Nico, could I perchance get me a pass me a Gargle Blaster? I like to try new things now and again.

*Watches silently as lemon slice approaches the top of his head and brain oozes slowly onto gold brick which used to be PhoenixRose. Tries to scoop up lemonhead into glass but drips self through the floorboards to the wine cellar below. Congeals in dark corner and doesn't come out for hours.*

The Firestarter story will have to wait just a little bit longer, MsG...

"Well, here I am."

Kelkhil- it's freezing ( well not literally it's 13 degrees above freezing this morning) and I'd bet within the next week or so the snow will arrive for us. Ok need coffee. On the good side I am off today and tomorrow. However today the real plumber is coming to fix what the stupid chain store plumber did ( we had to call chain store as Dan was out of town) and I am watching sweet Wyatt for my sister in law today...yippee baby time!

Morning, all!
Hey, JonnyQuest, nice trapeze set! I may partake when my brain wakes up!

Ah, PanGalactic Gargle Blasters...I remember those...I think.

Wish we had snow. I'd love to build a snow-Kaylee.

...carry the nothin'...

*vision clearing, head not so much*

Hey. Good math Kelkhil. Must be them there Michigan skools we went to.

It's "spring" in OZ and early Winter here. Jeez. Looks like I got that PanGalactic Sledg-o-matic thingy just in time. (Still hopes you have a loverly day, Mags.)

MsG wanted to hear the gasoline story, so here it is.

It was in the evening sometime last year and we had my wife, Toni's sister, her husband and their two boys were over, and we decided to have a bondfire (as we often do having much dead wood about). It had been raining earlier in the week and we were pleased by the break in the weather. We were looking forward to doing the obligatory Tom Hanks dance. We have a fire pit in the back yard (which can be seen directly between the "uprights" in the middle of the picture here:

Between the layers of limbs, branches and twigs, was a sizable amount of dead leaves we'd raked together earier. (This is an important detail.)

Starting the fire proved difficult as much of the wood was still wet from the earlier rains. This is a minor setback for any true firebug. As I had done so many times in the past, I brought forth the petrol. The firepit was well-soaked. Always concerned about safety, we placed the gas can far from the firepit. I also knew better than to light the wood directly from a match or a lighter. So I soaked the end of a treebranch with gasoline, lit it and then thrust the lit end into the firepit. (Now remember, I've done this before without incident.) I was bent over the edge of the firepit. And then...and then...

There was...a very loud noise, a lot of angry fire traveling up the branch, up my arm, up the sleeve of my t-shirt, up the side of my face and into the air above. I leaped up and back, no doubt aided by the concussion of the blast, landing on my feet. I looked around at the gaping mouths that greeted me. I vaguely remember being pounded senseless by Toni's closed fists. And then I felt the "WHOOP!!"-rush that only adrenaline can give. Boo-Yah!!

I'm not allowed to make Fire anymore.

So here's how come the flame came to misbehave. The wet leaves had provided an airtight barrier which contained the fumes within, rather than the usual dissipation that normally accompanied the practice making it a relatively "safe" endevour. I received no burns whatsoever (maybe like being in the sun just a few minutes too long), but the hairs on my fingers and arm and half of my mustache all went pale, curled up and many disappeared altogether.

We only use kerosene now and Toni plays the Firestarter.

"Well, here I am."

Thats one hell of a story JQ. There's a line from a Pete Townshend song coming to mind " No one respects the fire like the fool who's been badly burned ". I'm kind os a burn magnet myself.

Is anyone tending bar tonight. ? If so ,I'll have a doublre shot of Jagermeister please.
If not I'll be more than happy to get it myself. I'm a lousy bartender though , so we'll really need someone else to take over.

It's a month old and so I'm wondering how you're doing. Splittin' after a long time is hard to do no matter how much it seems you need to. ( ) Seems like your burns go deeper than mine. Thanks for your kindness.Browncoats are just so damn shiny .
I'm working it out with the husband. There are children involved too ,so we're trying therapy .I'm not sure what's harder, leaving or staying. But there's the willingness to try so I figure there must be hope.

So , do we have music ? I brought Doritos !

Of course we have music. But it appears that some people's tastes weren't quite experimental enough for some of the musicians I'd hired. As a result, the following performances have been cancelled.

Fanty & Mingo - "He ain't heavy, he's my brother" an evening of duets and stand-up comedy.
Badger - "Were-wolves of Londinium" music of the ancestral home.
The Reaverettes - "I've got you under my skin" a tribute to the crooners of Earth That Was.
Niska - "Weisses Fleisch" experimental music and poetry readings.

Anyway, the jukebox is fully stocked with all the music of the 'verse, even the stuff we'd prefer had never been recorded. As for live performances, I'm happy to accept requests from people who want specific artists, but for now, I think the only live act we have is a certain person swinging from the chandelier.

*Sets out everyone's favourite drinks for them to enjoy when the turn up.*
