Hello VerseExplorer:

I am glad the rain is not snow. It would be several inches and It would have taken me three hours to get home. I kid you not. So even though a white Christmas is preferable I will gladly accept the rain and a quick ride home.

Edit: Picture removed because it was to damn big.

Here I am as a young child learning the basics of couch potatoism. I invented a word.

People think you lay down a immediately become a couch potato. No! This takes years of practice. Getting the cushions to conform to your ever changing shape. Not for the faint of heart. And always being aware of the remote control's location. Be one with the remote. Of course you must learn to be polite. If someone steps between you and the TV, you most gently tell them to move their as.

This is the wisdom I share tonight.

I glad both you and Magdalena were home tonight. I enjoy our talks.

Edit: Sorry about the size of this picture. Did not realize it was this big.

Aaaaaaaaah, how utterly adorable. What beautiful blue eyes you have! What sweet toes you have! What gorgeous , , , what's wrong, stop crying.
Oh, I see I'm blocking the view of the TV. Sorry!

Traveler, you are a very talented man that knows the fine art of "couch potatoism."

Here I am. In the midst of talking to my sister. It was difficult to get a pic of me when I wasn't chatting.

The truth is, most of my childhood pictures show me laying in front of the TV. I think our family most have been one of the first on our block to have one. If I was about one when the earliest picture was taken that would have been 54 years ago. The perfect baby sitter.

We were the first in our neighborhood to get a TV, too. I started most Saturday mornings with The Lone Ranger, Rin Tin Tin,
and Circus Boy. You're bringing me down the memory trail. I haven't thought about childhood programs for awhile.

Sorry you two - I was busy getting the hang of the new 76th posting forum!
I love it and I am learning new skills along the way!!

So - couch potatoism is being discussed... I am a profficient, you know...
You don't get to be my shape by slacking off from concertrated sessions on
the couch in front of your favourite TV, videos and DVDs...

And as for baby pics...
'Bikini shot'...

Early Kaylee clone (in overalls)...

and that annoying thing people do... making you the centre of
attention and all so that you don't get to watch TV much... well, it
was my 2nd birthday... and I think the TV must have been just to the left of the camera!

P.S. You are both so delicious that I could eat you... look at the widdle Bobby baby!!
Wookit the widdle boy!! Awwwwww... wookit the widdle Cindy-boo!!

Hi OOOO Silver VerseExplorer:

I do not know if I saw the very first shows, but I remember some that date back to my early childhood and that would be 1952. I know we want to bring back Firefly. But there were some really great shows over the years. I don't know if I would enjoy them as much as an adult as I did when I was a youngster.

I miss westerns. Rawhide was one of my favorites. Westerns don't seem to be popular on TV anymore. They still make western movies and they seem to do well. But no TV westerns.

Someone mentioned that most of the top forty shows that we are voting for in the poll are either science fiction or westerns. I wonder if TV executives are paying any attention to this. They may star thinking about westerns again. But these insane game shows are doing so well. When they offer a chance to make a million dollars people are drawn to them.

I hope it is just a phase. We passed through disco. I think we will pass through this.

Uh... you wanna know about game shows... try living in the UK... then you name a topic and they have
a game show based on it... darts, 10 pin boling, snooker/pool, football, words and letters, maths,
general knowlege with more variations on the way to win than my tiny brain can handle!

I actually went on a game show once - that's where my picture with the Wiggles came from!! I started
I started with 20 points as did all the other contestants... and eneded with 15!! The real downer
was that I actuall knew most of the answers, but there was a guy who also knew most of the answers
who was way quicker on the buzzer than me!!

So - we three potatoes of couchism are... perfecting viewing viewing of re-runs from far...
ummm now I can't think of anything to rhyme...

I have to go out for a while - hope you're both here when I get back!!

Oh - Kaylee-clone! Did you read my profil in the roll call yet??

"Kemo Sabe" said Tonto.

It only aired on TV from 1952 to 1954. There were quite a few westerns back then: Wagon Train, Maverick,
The Cisco Kid, Sugarfoot, Cheyenne, to name a few. If the top shows on the voting list are westerns and sci-fi, wouldn't you
think that a sci-fi western would be a hit. Let's get Firefly back.

Ooooooh I almost forgot - Hopalong Cassidy - it was the 1st TV western in 1949. Of course I also forgot about
Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. There were so many that taught us about right and wrong, and you could always tell the
bad guys because they wore black hats. Things were simpler back then.

We get a lot of UK programs on our Public Channel. Like Fawlty Towers, Vets In Practice, and Red Dwarf.
Never figured there were so many game shows. I hope this does not last long. The more viewers you have the longer the shows will last. They have William Shatner with dancers. What next?

Hey I was reading in a magazine about a couple who met on the internet when they were both posting on a forum for a TV show that has long since been cancelled... (sounds like a fairly far-fetched idea to me... eh Nico?) anyway... the show was called 'The Big Valley'... ring any bells with either of you??

I remember Hoopalong. There was Sky King, Annie Oakley, Wyatt Earp, Wagon Train, Suger Foot, Rifleman, Maverick, and the list goes on. Know I'm getting nostalgic. I'm sure if you googled westerns you would get an extensive list. The last western I remember that had any success was Little House on the Prairie. How long ago was that?

Oh Traveler... I thought Laura Ingalls Wilder was my best friend... you know how other kids
have imaginary friends...? (Go on, humour me here..) I had an imaginary real life
friend and I read and re-read those books time and time again - I had lost count after I got to
11 times by the time I reached high school!! I wasn't allowed to watch the TV series though -
it wasn't my Dad's idea of appropriate TV for young kids and I was the eldest of 3 girls at
primary school...

The Big Valley. That was a little bit later. Well, at least it was in color from 1965. It had Barbara Stanwyck, Lee Majors,
and Linda Evans. How funny a couple fell in love online. Hmmmm, anything is possible.

The current western has changed a bit. There is "Deadwood," but it's not exactly like the older ones. The good guys and bad
guys are a little harder to identify. I must admit I was a fan. I was sucked in by Timothy Olyphant. He is very close to My Captain in
my heart. They both make my heart skip a beat.

See you made it back Magdalena.

I am glad you got to read the Ingle's books. The show was well done. I would rate very high In my list of the best. Maybe that is why we don't see anymore westerns. They can't compete with Little House.

I did not read much when I was young. I wasn't until I was around twenty years old that I started reading and I ahve had a book in my hand ever since. My friend gave me the Hobbit and now I own so many books they are piling on the floor. Time to buy a new bookcase. Something large to last a while.

I believe you read the Ingal's tail over and over. I have lost count of how many times I have read the Lord of the Rings. That book really inspires me.

Edit: I have to post faster. I am falling behind.

Aaaah, AsortaFairyTake, sappy is what Christmas is all about. How are you today?

I'm just glad that I don't have to fly anywhere over the Holidays. Things really got backed up in Colorado. The news has been reporting about all of the people that won't be able to make it home for Christmas because of the blizzard there.

TRAVELER

Hello VerseExplorer:

Finally went to bed with a crash. Awake now after much needed rest.

Nico is thinking of "Death Valley Days". Bow to the mighty google for helping me find that. Reagan was the host for a while and also performed in some of the episodes. So Reagan was in a TV western. Nico rules.

Ahhh, yes, Death Valley Days - of course I remember the "Old Ranger" Stanley Andrews best. He was the 1st TV host when it changed from radio. They once had a story about the Superstition Mountains and the mysterious treasures that are reportedly buried there. Little did I know that someday I would live right next to them.

ASORTAFAIRYTALE

Hey VerseExplorer and Traveler.
I've like been doing stuff all day...I'm soo tired, yet I can't seem to go to sleep. I hate that.
So, yeah I am definitely not ready for Christmas at all. None of my presents are wrapped, though at least I finally got 'em all bought.
So how're you all doing? Is anyone even still here?

Hi, AsortaFairyTale. I'm here. I'm leaving in a moment to get a few things from the 24 hour grocery store. I like going late at night, and I figure it will be better than going tomorrow when everyone is there trying to get the ingredients at the last minute.

I do hate to wrap gifts, so I don't envy your situation. I have started to use the gift bags more often because of my aversion to wrapping presents.

"No power in the 'verse can stop me!"

Hello Kaylee Clone! Hi ASorta! Hello Traveler!!

I don't know if you're here at the moment, but I am just popping in for a bit to say hello to everyone and let you know that with half an hours shopping time left I realised I had forgotten one crucial gift, and had to brave the rediculous conditions at my local shopping centre... the chaos was increased by the fact that large sections of the car park are closed due to the impending major re-building that is going to start in the new year!! I just had to pop in and say hi and there's a cool change hitting us as I type this so I am looking forward to a thunderstorm - hope everyone can hear me sing tonight!!

It's 5.20pm on Christmas Eve if anyone is wondering!!

Hi, Magda, I just got back from the grocery store. I wanted to pick up a few supplies before the rush tomorrow. I will be listening for your voice to carry across the ocean. It is soon to be Christmas Eve here. Right now it's 11:40 PM on Saturday night.

Merry Christmas to you!

"No power in the 'verse can stop me!"

Hey my gorgeous Kaylee clone!! it is so good to see you here - I have just been working on my backstory for the 76th and also looking into the history of the Independant movement!! I want to flesh out my story with some facts and make it as realistic as possible - dates and so forth - although I have to go and wrap a few gifts soon so I don't know when I will get to post them!

I am so excited about the 76th... can you tell??

I hope everyone here who is even thinking of going to Dragon*Con will sign up if they haven't already!!

*looks at NVG, SpaceANGL, Whimsy...* And it is 7.20pm here so I will be singing my little heart our in a little over 4 hours, though I will enjoy some fruit punch and mince pies before that!

I also found some reasonably priced hair pieces for my Persephone costume for the Toga party...

I will have to see what I can do about you hearing me sing...???

Back at you, my Younger Kaylee-Clone. I really did enjoy writing the back story for the 76th, too. I did go ahead and post it on the 76th site. I figured I could change it or add to it later. I also sent a copy to DocJubal to check for accuracies. He sent a note back that he's a little tied up right now, but he'll check if over and get back to me around the 1st.

I've just been having some fun with the hands and feet thread... I am missing folk being about somewhat *sigh* but it is good fun catching up on things! And of course my Kaylee-clone is here so all is well!

I do need to wrap some more gifts though... it's amazing how much there ends up needing to be done at the last minute!!

My Sweet Aussie Kaylee-Clone,
I think I'm going to go to sleep now. Someone should be waking up and dropping by to "Hi." I think I'll go over and check out your hands and feet before I go to bed.

I still have an extra day because I'm taking my gifts to a friend's house on Christmas Day. I hope to see you later.
