Just watched Objects in Space last night...it gets better every time!!
Never saw Brimstone, is it British or American? Who starred in it?
Speaking of old shows, a mate of mine in Washington has all the UFO shows on dvd. I'd get em myself, but they want serious deniro for it here! UFO was like our Star Wars in the early seventies! And although I'd never buy them for myself, I ordered a bunch of Lost in Space shows for my son.(yeah, I'm gonna watch em too)
uh-oh, purple-haired moonchicks, gotta jet.

Brimstone ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0165564/ )starred Peter Horton (thirty-something) and he was also a producer. It was in '98 and while only had about 13 ep's or so it was a neat show. No show is perfect, but I loved that it took an intesting concept of heaven and hell and ran with it. The guy playing the Devil, John Glover ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001278/ ), now he was fantastic.
I don't remember where it first ran, although it did get a re-play on SciFi at one point.

Hey Letov.

Don't mind you jumping in at all. I'm so glad there is another person out there that has seen BRIMSTONE. It was a great show and like you said took the Heaven and Hell theme to an interesting place. And yes John Glover (He who was to become Luther's father in smallville), he was superb wasn't he as the Devil? Had that glint in his eye that made you believe he was the devil. I always loved the idea that Ezekiel (sp) always had 27$ in his pocket at the start of every episode because that was the state he was in when he went to hell.

And you're a fellow Dangermouse lover. Excellent! The voice of Dangermouse and the Hitchhiker's radio play is DAVID JASON He's a much loved actor over here in the UK, in fact he's a national treasure. There's a show over here called Only Fools and Horses and that sort of made him into a household name. But I grew up with him as Dangermouse and still think of him so :)

Chrisisall Hey bud is that UFO show the one about a military airforce that keeps encountering UFO's? Only I was really young and I seem to remember a show like that - but It's sort of muddled in my mind because I know there's another show where the setting is in space - and I could be mixing things up ? But the era sounds about right..... Also I gotta say I prefer Spidey 1 over Spidey 2 (better humour) but there's not much in them. They're very similar plot line aren't they? I kinda like Sam Raimi so I don't mind and it's very visually interesting but y'know now I think of it I can't even remember how the 2nd one ends :? That's not good....

Well cool chatting with you guys - a lot of memories being stirred up here :)

Just as a side note y'know the remake of Hitchikers Guide, well some fella's I went to college with are working on that. I'm not sure in what capacity as over here they're known for there music videos, which are very graphic and computer 3D, but if you wanna check them out they are:

Purple haired moon Chicks!!!! Get me a number would you C they sound cute!

He's the Greatest, he fantastic, where ever there is danger he'll be there.... Dangermouse!!

UFO was out in UK about 1970, here 1973, and was made by the people who made Space 1999, that show about the moon blowing out of orbit and traveling through the galaxy (but it was way better!) It starred a stateside chap with dyded blond hair and chicks on the moonbase with purple hair and sorta played like Thunderbirds (hmm, same people made THAT show, too). Always chasing, running from or blowing up alien invaders. It was cool and the theme was almost as good as Airwolfs'.
Talk about past blasts- my kid and I just started watching Lost in Space season 3 and wow are they fun! (but you gotta watch them with a little kid or else your brain freezes up trying to convert the stories into something that makes sence).
Star Trek: First Contact SE comes out today, guess I'll be a good consumer...
And Spiderman 2 ended with...he was holding up a wall...Doc Ock was...damn.
Spidey won, I know that.

DANGER, DANGER SOMNAMBULIST!

Hey Chrisisall.

Hell yeah I remember this one! I still think of mentioning stunts in films to you even now. In fact I was going to update you. STILL no Toxic 4 over here!!!! Which is annoying. This region thingy is a pain!!!! Anyway I'll stay patient.

Ok so whad'ya say we go several rounds and talk about stunts in Serenity to start off with :)

Select to view spoiler:

What did you make of the bar room brawl with River? Convincing? I was pleasantly surprised there are one or two beautifully well timed punches and falls in that one. I remember one guy having his head slammed onto the bar as a sort of after thought that River inflicts - I think he was going down anyway, but she kinda puts that one in for good measure.

And what about Jaynes little trick with that guy he puts his arm out to. Sending him arse over head, then Jayne catches him and slams him head first into the ground, knocking him out!!!! I don't think I've seent hat before. Sorta made me laugh for it's crudeness :)

Also: ok Stunts on stairs. They pad the chest right? Sometimes you can tell, but the fact some of these guys don't get disorientated on they're way down astounds me!

So have we done favourite stunts yet Chrisisall? Do tell buddy, as an expert what rates highly with you?

Cheers bud

Well...

Select to view spoiler:

Jayne flippin' that guy and bangin' his head on the ground was cool, and funny, if a little unlikely in real life, but it got a big laugh from the audience! I was real impressed with the two falls Mal (stunt double-?) took from the two 'clotheslines' he got
from the Operative! Ever get clotheslined? There's no real good way to hit the ground, other than to tuck your chin to your chest and relax.
Also, I was very impressed with Summer, she handled her fights masterfully, and her timing was spot-on!

More later, old friend.

Chrisisall, talkin' more fights than actual stunts here

I think when the OP shot Mal in the back and he fell on that barrier rail was great

Great line too...

Digression back to UFO.

When the UFO that had been hiding at the bottom of the lake tried to escape, and a bunch of SHADO Mobiles had quietly gathered on the shore, and absolutely blew the living crap out of it as it surfaced.

Gratuitously prolonged destruction and wilful waste of ordinance. Gerry Anderson always did good explosions.

I also liked Lady Penelope nearly getting poisoned. Parker shoots the glass out of her hand.

Anyone else would have used an improbably accurate pistol. The cool big-nosed geezer used the Rolls's radiator cannon... .

The uniforms on SkyDiver. Was it just me, or were they really quite dodgy?

I can't believe I missed this thread last February...
one of my favorites is when Jayne is hanging from the bottom of the ship (holding Vera?)
when they all go in to save River & Simon in 'Safe'
how did they do that?
how do you show an actor hanging from a ship hovering in the air over a crappy little mountain town?
I suppose they used a crain and then CGIed it later?
However it was done it looked great,
it looked really real to me.

I'm not all that picky, I don't have any stunts that bother me...it is all good IMO

Y'see this is just the kinda insight I like to hear about.... It's funny how the simple stunts often get overlooked, but now you mention it I imagine this would be very difficult to do.... Thankfully I've not been clotheslined :) although I should ask my bro' see if he ever tried pulling that one on me!!!

While we're on the subjects understated stunts... You remember that fall Anya takes in, I think it's season 5, where she is trying to stop Dawn from leaving and a vamp whaps her one and she falls to the ground, with her head popping back and hitting the ground??? Don't remember the episode, but that looked "OUCH!!!!"

Not sure if we've mentioned that one before, but that is very well done... Always makes me look away some...

Ok gotta work the bat signal is flying high!!!!

Holy time-jump!!!! Was it really all the way back in feb?!?!!?

You make a good point Embers. The stunts are always good-looking. It's so easy to take all this stuff for granted. Especially in Angel... They're such quality. I love the stunt work in Angel!!! There's a fantastic one I think's it's season1 ep 2 or 3 and Somebody (demon) flips Angel across the other side of the room and he ends up hitting the far wall with his back then plummets head first into the ground!!!! Amazing stuff!!! Wow's me even now. I don't think that's been bettered I absolutely loved that stunt. I'll have to try and track down which episode it is exactly coz that is waaaay cool.

The Jayne stunt I imagine is wire work and blue/green screen stuff. (Big C may be able to help on this one) But I imagine they yank up Adam, on a wire with a green screen behind him and place the camera below looking up. Then in post remove the green and add Serenity behind him... perhaps incorporating a little camera shake to add 'energy' to the shot. However you're right, great shot!!!!

Well that's somewhat unsettling!
I thought we all had every detail of every episode burned into our memories after >5 viewings?

That was Mal who was getting tossed through the holographic window, and Patience was the woman trying to shoot him again.

I liked the one with ... hang on, my five week old kitten is trying to consume a rubber band...

Anyway, the stuff in the firefight in "war stories" looks pretty good. I liked the stuff in Objects In Space too, such as Early having his chuck norris moment against book.

As for serenity, Well it has to be river kicking ass.
