Nathan Fillion seen as taking over Bruce Campbell's shoes as the next Great "B" movie actor.

What do you think?

Read the article, then discuss amongst yourselves. Not sure if I agree OR disagree.

NF's too mainstream looking. Hasn't got the chin for it.

Seriously, I love BC but I'd like to see NF go on to bigger and better things. Don't confuse him with the hick parts he often plays. If you've read anything he's written, he's a smart guy.

He gets compared to BC and Harrison Ford a lot and I know JW loves him for his ability to do his own fight scenes, but he can do more than action.

I first noticed him on Two Guys et al and he's great at romantic comedy. There are very few actors who can pull it off convincingly. I compare him to Cary Grant. CG started off playing cockney characters much more in keeping with his own origins before moving on to smoother, suaver parts.

NF in the remake of "Bringin Up Baby", "His Girl Friday", "I Was a Male War Bride"?

Bringing Up Baby is a fave film of mine! So who would you put in the Hepburn part? I can so see him in Cary Grant roles...

I mean, sexy, funny, great timing, great smile, those eyes...why is this man not a huge star? Oh, yeah, he's smart and has a personality rather than an ego.

You know, I have to agree that I'd rather see him in starring roles in good small movies (like Serenity and Slither), than bit roles in large ones. But what I really want to see him in is starring roles on TV. Week after week after week.

Mal was such a great role for him because he got to do such serious drama, but still bring the funny. I noticed him in TGaaG. In fact, he was pretty much the reason I would bother watching the show (cuz that new guy was cute and funny). But the drama is what really drew me to him in Firefly - the vulnerablilty, the conflict, the resolve...

If he does end up as the next great 'B' movie actor, at least he will be making those 'B' movies great.

I especially disagree on this point...White Noise 2: The Light is going to be released in theaters in January 2007. *NOT "direct to video"* According to imdbpro.com

Another chance to see Nathan (Our Captain) Fillion on the big darn screen.

Waitress doesn't have a theater distributor yet.
Genre: Comedy / Romance

Non-members of imdbpro.com can see Nathan Fillion's page at

http://imdb.com/name/nm0277213/

Waitress and White Noise 2: The Light still in
post-production.

We have to go see everthing he's in. A lot of us volunteered too late for Serenity. Now's our chance to up the Star Power of our BDH and make a sequel look like good business.

A friend of mine engineered this for Christian Bale. He got fans to bombard Entertainment Weekly: why wasn't CB on your list of young Hollywood? ad nauseum And now he's Batman.

We can do the same for NF.

Well, yeah....and he cares enough about the projects he takes on not to be in "Debbie Does Dallas IX" or something....

I've seen him do comedy, drama, and of course Mal. I suspect Nathan more than has the chops to leap into something Scorsese or Coppola-esque or anything else he chooses to do. It frustrates the heck out of me that you have to *be* an A-list star (and that doesn't necessarily mean talent) to get those kinds of films. aaaaaargh!

I love Bruce. I really do. But I think Nathan is more than B-movie god material. I sincerely hope he gets his chance, and stays the nice, down to earth Browncoat he is now.

I liked the comment over at Whedonesque about the inevitable comparisons to Bruce and to Harrison Ford though:
He isn't the next anything. He is the first (and only!!) Nathan Fillion!

Hey, I'm in, tell me where to write! I'm already set to try and get as many people as I can to bombard People magazine before they put the Sexiest Man Alive issue out--they keep skipping Nathan and Adam and Christian Bale for starters!

He's the one and only Nathan Fillion.

Nathan tends to disappear into the role-you see the character he's playing first and then all of a sudden you say-Oh that Nathan Fillion. He does need a romantic comedy, he would be fantastic in a Cary Grant or Jimmy Stewart type role.

I've seen him in bits from TGaaG, Outer Limits (especially one really HOT sauna scene-girls think Trash but with as much action as TV will allow), Waters Edge and Saving Private Ryan-no other actor can cry and blubber like he did in those 2 minutes.

Not even knowing who he was the first time I saw SPR all I wanted to do was hug and him and tell him everyhting was going to be OK.

I'd love for Nathan to be more then a B movie actor. If only because so many people make fun of those B movies and the actors in them. Actually, I'd really love to see him in a recurring tv role. But that's just my medium preference. Except, the movie business is a fickle thing...so who knows.
