Does anyone else watch this show? Man that premier rubbed me the wrong way. The finale from last season was a cliff hanger and was all about Chance and his old boss who was like a father figure to him. At the end they were partnering up to go save Winston. This season they completely dropped that storyline like it never happened. Chance and Guerrero save Winston on their own in the first 5 minutes like it was no big deal. Grrrrr that's a total betrayal of trust with the audience IMO.

The episode itself didn't seem that bad, but the whole time I was just ticked off about the retcon. Anybody else really annoyed by it?

I forgot to watch. But I've been wary ever since they fired the creator of the show and brought in the Chuck guy to make it more hip. This is not encouraging....

Ah didn't know about that. That makes sense. I mean it's a stupid decision but it clarifies why they completely dumped the story line and changed directions. I'm holding off on complaining about the two brand new main characters just to get some women on the show. Especially when they could have easily taken the computer chick (if she wasn't on No Ordinary Family) and the FBI agent (I think...maybe a cop) lady that was in a few episodes. They both could have moved into main character roles. Instead two random character shoe horned in right away. Blah.

I understand wanting to draw in more viewers.... but trying to do so at the risk of the ones you already have is very dumb.

True, but only just barely, and that particular Dateline scored higher than normal since it was a special.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Sounds like FOX is trying to mimic SyFy.

I hadn't been following "Human Target" enough to realize exactly what was wrong with the season premiere but you nailed it.

I missed the computer girl but if the actress got another job, I can understand that.

Dropping a huge-set up/cliffhanger like that, though? Reminds me of "Sliders" season 2 where the network (FOX, of course), wanted to ignore the fact that Quinn had been shot in the season one finale and an additional person had slid with them. The show runners had to fight very hard to let them add a very brief segment to wrap it up.

Still, it's nice to see more Whoniverse actors getting work in America. First Gugu in "Undercovers" and now Indira in "Human Target".

The sad thing is I read the IGN review of the episode and the author said they started the episode right where they left off. Oh really?

A bunch of the people who posted comments were asking about the old boss. Apparently the author wasn't paying much attention to season 1.

I thought something was "off" about it but decided it had to be the shoehorning of the females.

Someone else has said that they are no longer using Bear McCreary and a full orchestra. That would most definitely have made it feel off to me. But o dear lord good music like that is so expensive! That was one of the things I liked so much about last season. Well, I'll give it another couple of looks...and then...

Bear didn't use a full orchestra - he did it all himself on a synthesizer. He's just good enough to make it sound like he had a full orchestra.

And yeah, they did fire him.

I've seen a clip of Bear, orchestra, and Mark while Mark learns to play his theme on a flugelhorn during a break. The word "play" is used advisedly, but you can recognize the tune.
