Agreed. I've been saying for years that the best actors are the ones who work in TV --movie stars don't "act," they just play themselves in every movie (Johnny Depp being a particular exception).

What's really tragic is the movie stars who could act, but who end up getting typecast (either voluntarily or not). Have you seen any Tommy Lee Jones movies from the 70s? Dude could actually emote. Who knew? Someone should give him a non-stoneface role. . .

Don't particularly care how famous or not an actor/actress is. If they put in a good performance then cool. If I like their previous performances then I'm more likely to want to see new work from them.

Stars are stars.

Actors act.

There is some crossover (notably Depp, as mentioned).

There are many actors who, if they can stick with it, may not hit it big when they are young but eventually "grow into" their looks or their particular strengths.

"Working actor" is a respectful description of someone like Mark Sheppard, who is talented, reliable and professional, and as a result has plenty to do.

It can be a fine and decent way to make a living for self and family.
