Yes, that's right: The BDM will be making it's Standard Cable Television Debut on the SciFi Channel this coming January. The 3rd to be exact, a Saturday, at 9pm EST.

We need to make this an EVENT, a cause for Celebration. I would like to recommend that both Individual Browncoats and Organized Browncoat Groups take the time to organize Shindigs, Home Viewing Parties, Public Screenings, Charity Events... whatever will draw people's attention to the Film.

Let's give SciFi the highest Saturday Night Ratings they've ever had! (It won't be hard; Have you SEEN the crap they usually Air on Saturdays?!? lol)

The important thing here is to let the uninitiated know it's going to be on. This is a golden opportunity to expand the Fan Base. It might also, hopefully, revive some of the enthusiasm that's been missing for awhile.

For my part, I have rented a Screening Room at The Cinemat in Bloomington Indiana for that evening. It's a video store, and the room seats 70. Any and all Area SereniFly Fans are invited to attend... for FREE! There will be snacks, popcorn, drinks and Beer for sale at the concession stand. We're talking a great time, with people who share our passion. That is an example of what could be done.

After the BDM has been broadcast, another simple thing to do would be to say Thank You. Just e-mail SciFi at feedback@scifi.com and tell them you watched, and appreciated them showing the Best Movie Ever!

Come on people. It's right after Serenity is released in Blu-Ray so here's a chance to convert people.

That's right, NCBrowncoat, and it's incredibly simple. Just watch the BDM on SciFi, and urge others to do the same.

No need for a central organization, or a coordinated letter campaign. Just act Locally, and we can achieve great things Nationally. -And at the very least, have a fun time!

Thank you, Co-Piloter

There are so many things folks can do to spread the word and celebrate this. Everything from getting your local Bar to Air it and throw a party, to having small Shindigs at home with a few friends and some good food and beverages.

-And celebrate we should. Our BDM has had an incredible run on DVD, selling a phenomenal number of Copies in the 3 years it has been out. It's had a long run on HBO, and now it's finally on "commercial" Cable. The number of potential viewers is limited only to how many Browncoats want to watch it, and to the number of folks we can convince to tune in.

So, a huge "Xie-xie" in advance to any and all of us as take the time to enjoy our favorite BDM on the 3rd.

Absolutely great news! Thanks for the heads up TDBrown. I will spread the word to everyone who will listen.

Good idea about e-mailing Sci-Fi Channel to thank them. I believe if we are relentless we'll get a BDS. Someone, somewhere will sit up and take notice our BDH get love for all over the world, all this 6 years after the fact.

Impossible ain't got a chance!

Thanks, Shinygoodguy

Never lose hope my friend, but no one thing is going to get us a BDS. If Universal sees (through Neilsons and e-mails) that there's still a following for our BDHs, they might sit up and notice. It's far more likely that they won't. What's Most likely is, we will have added a few hardcore Browncoats to our numbers, and coincidentally had a Shiny time doing it!

Thats certainly reason enough to me for watching Serenity on Jan 3rd.

I have heard that there is going to be a Shindig in North Carolina, possibly one in Terre Haute Indiana.... have also heard personally from BCs in Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, St Louis and Seattle. Thank yous all around for that.

Lets please get some more folks involved getting the word out about this. Especially the part about newbies and e-mailing feedback@scifi.com to say Thanks. If anyone has an activity in mind for this, even if it's just a get-together at home, please post it here and let us know what's happening out your way!

Finally, a reason to subscribe to Cable! (My hubby is convinced that Battlestar Galactica is a reason, but I think the BDS and BDM top it. But don't tell *him* that!)

Are there any Browncoats in Northern VA that are organizing anything? I just moved here and am beginning the search for other fans here.

*keep flyin!*

Aisling, I looked for "Virginia Browncoats" in Yahoo Groups, and there are literally dozens. You might take a look there, and see if any of them know about this (thereby spreading the word, right?), and checking to see if they're DOing anything about it.

If anyone else knows of Virginia BCs thet want to watch the Premiere with other BCs, please give Aisling a shout-out. Thanks!

Thanx, EC. I'm disappointed at no Firefly Marathon, but kind of unsurprised. They never did know how to promote the BDM, and they don't seem to even be trying now.

I guess it's up to us. Let's keep getting the word out, folks. I attatched a template for a promo poster on the SciFi and UniversalHD forum boards, if anyone would like to use it. Just go to the "Serenity on SciFi Channel" posts on either board. And once again, Xie-xie to everyone who passes the word and/or watches on Jan 3rd!

Not really happy with them cutting parts out. Couldn't they just have made the time slot 1/2 hour longer?

They did....
It's a 2 hour movie, and they alloted 2 & 1/2 hours for it. They just ran a LOT of commercials.

I did think there were too many commercials, I'm thinking the 4-5 minutes of movie they cut out could have been rethought by making it a 3 hour time slot instead.

I caught it on Thursday the 12th.

It still gets better with time.

Except for the cut parts.

I'd like to see the full DVD version, with deleted scenes added. Like River handcuffed screaming "Everybody's gonna die!" Creepifyin.

Adds to the continuity.
