Likes to mess with stuffs.

Did anyone else catch the latest episode of Caprica with New Cap City? It reminds me of Total Recall 2070 with a bit of Matrix mixed in. This is the best episode so far this season. If the rest of the season is as good, there's hope for the series.

Anyone else agree?

I like the way multiple interesting stories (New Cap, the girl Centurion, and the Tauron mafia that young Bill Adama is getting sucked into) are interwoven and playing out.

Nicely done, and we may yet see space ships.

Getting hooked, I fear.
There is so much going on: characters, story lines, architecture, rich background...
One of the best shots from the most recent episode began with one person in bed, panned to add another, panned to add a third, panned to add a fourth. Total: 2 men, 2 women.
I LOL'd.

Drat I missed it Friday night. I was getting hooked too before the Olympics. But honestly I was so tired last night after work that I don't even remember what I watched.

This show is addicting. I really love the Gattica (sp) feel to it. The darkness, the gothic feel...it's intoxicating.

Anyone else watch the preview for next week? Notice a familiar face from the Whedonverse? Yuppers, that was Spike you saw! James Marsters joins the cast next week. Guess we owe Jane Espenson a big thanks for that! :)

And I never really got into BSG, but I am seriously digging Caprica. It actually has me wanting to check out BSG a bit.

I'm glad this show is on. There's not much else in the way of sci-fi that gets me to watch these days. SG-U was a big nothing on the meter for me.

I'm glad they're advancing the character of Tamara Adama. For a while there, I thought all we'd get was Zoe Graystone, which is fine by me, but now that there's 2 'beings' in the virtual world.... I'm wondering how they'll work with, or against each other.

Had to chuckle at the title of this episode.

Also, how many thought 'Clair' from Heroes when Tamara got shot ?

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I'm liking the show quite a bit, especially with all the varied sub-plots being woven. However, I have to say that V-World and New Cap City is feeling a bit too "holo-deck" for my taste. Perhaps when the Zoe and Tamara avatars get together again it will be more interesting. So far, I'm liking the "real world" aspects of Daniel Graystone trying to hold onto his company, and I'm wondering if and when he will realize that Zoe's consciousness resides inside his Cylon model. All of the Tauron ritual elements are intriguing as well. Overall, a well-done show so far, with excellent acting and writing. I'm surprised to find myself say that considering I think BSG deteriorated to a barely watchable mess by the end.

New Cap City seems essential to how the self-aware Cylons came about. Zoe wrote the code that allowed her to mess with the Holoband system, and leave her avatar alive in the system after she was killed. Her dad used that code to recreate Tamara from all sorts of data on her. Tamara is also self aware, but not the clone of a human consciousness as was Zoe's avatar. So far, we have two "cylon" consciousnesses in play, and one real cylon (a self aware bot). We can see where this is going, especially with daddy Greystone unaware exactly what's going on. Especially with a pissed off Tamara walking the streets of New Cap City.

Other than Zoe's avatar was made by herself, and Tamara's was made by Daniel Graystone , using Zoe's program, what real differences are there between the 2 avatars ?

Now, Zoe's avatar was brought along, tinkered with, and likely 'evolved' at a more cautious, measured rate.... but if they're based on the same input ( program ) then I don't see where one has a more 'human' conscience than the other. Of course, Tamara's avatar thought she was human, so the shock of realizing she's dead seems to have some effect on her personality. I think it would for most folks.

( - just a side thought... so far, it seems like the origins of cylon self awareness is rooted in avatars of 2 teenage females. In short, it's they who caused the fall of mankind.... sort of like Lilith and Eve? Seems a stretch to me, but who knows ? )
