Absolutely, you go girl!

I wonder if I'm the only one who still sneaks in cokes and snacks...Now that we could technically afford them, I still sneak 'em in just for the fun of it

Also, we drove all the way into town so I wouldn't have to deal with the 3-d. I'm one of those people that has one eye that focuses a milimeter off from the other, so it gives me a headache(am a damn good shot though!). Not to mention they have been doing 3-d on a lot of kids movies where the 3-d is totally not warranted just to soak up a few more bucks. We went with others a few weeks ago to see a Dolphin's Tale(knew it had to be depressing but they made it even more depressing than it had to be) and they only had it in 3-d, so we wore those damn glasses for the whole show for maybe 30 seconds worth of enhancement....pointless!

In the promotional appearances the stars said the film was carefully tuned to keep the grownups from getting bored while not including the young'uns in some of the naughtiness.

In one appearance, Banderas recounted how he had voiced his part in English, (I think) Italian (or was it French?) and two kinds of Spanish - - one for the Americas and one in Castilian. The host, smart-aleckishly (I thought) said something like "I guess you can't do the Spanish accent when you're dubbing the Spanish." Said Banderas, purring, "Andaluthian."

You are so naughty, talented tongue indeed, but I've heard nothing but good things about this movie. It's on my list of must-sees. I believe I will be taking my little 8 year-old passport to such kiddie fare, my little grand niece, this weekend sometime.

You make a good point about the 3D movies today, most are pointless productions. We can blame it on the success of Avatar (although that was a brilliant use of the medium). When I went to see Tron: Legacy it was absolutely horrible, they even put a disclaimer at the beginning of the movie that not all scenes would be in 3D - a total waste of film.

To be fair, they were trying to pull a "Wizard of Oz" by filming the real world in 2D and switching to 3D when Flynn Jr. entered the grid.

However, suddenly switching from B&W to color was probably stunning back in the days of Oz when color in movies was new. Trouble is, they've had 3D cinema for 50 years now, and its really not that impressive any more. I enjoyed the gimmicky trailers though - then I was ready to take off the bloody sunglasses so I could enjoy the movie.

Instead of going for the Wizard of Oz effect, they should have written a better story. Tron Legacy's script was god-awful bad. There was none of the fun and whimsy that made the original the cult classic that it is. No seeing the "users" as religious icons or "Greek gods", the "games" were lame and confusing, and it seemed that Tron was inserted into the storyline as an afterthought. The script was patchwork at best. It seemed to me that the 3D FX was all they cared about.

And the "acting" - don't get me started. Bridges was the only one worth the price of admission. I had such high hopes for the return of Tron. 26 years and the best they could come up with was that chewed up mess. Anyway "Puss" was loads of fun.

I love movies! I want to see at least one good movie every day! I've been addicted to them since I was very small.

The problem is, I've become critical & intolerant as well. Not intentionally either.

Brother visits, takes me n' Sis out to lunch & a movie for our birthdays. Nothing playing that day looked interesting to me, so I picked Puss'n'Boots by default. Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, even Billy Bob Thornton, how could we go wrong?

My brother enjoyed it immensely; I could barely stand it. And I pretended to enjoy it, because he had done it for me.

There was a general grotesqueness to it, which many folks like, I guess.
The story was lame; the dialogue: was that meant to be cute? Maybe funny, entertaining? *groan*
The art work, animation was very poor.

Actually, he pointed out that the "Andaluthian" sound (which is the accent of his origin) is considered to be "an accent" to those who speak the Spanish of the rest of the country, so he used it on purrrrrpose.
The promo is a riot!! Thanks to whoever posted it - - we are up to here in litterboxes and "lambswool" with our four gatos. "The Most Interesting Man" ad reduces us to giggles whenever he appears.

I think you need to re-set expectations based on genre, AND it helps to enjoy a thing if you base your expectations low, and then be pleasantly surprised by the nice things... This was a KIDS movie primarily, and kids are somewhat fascinated by grotesque... Do you have any?? Helps ta have kids, you can ignore the parts meant just for them easier...

You are looking for overwhelming and dazzleing, which I get, but those days are pretty much gone. If you don't adapt to the time you will be constantly disappointed. I lowered my standards so I could still enjoy movies, and yes- that's a sad truth...

Nevermind how much the movies have changed over the years ... decades ... the generations. And each era with its masterpieces. Mostly, I prefer movies from 1985 to now.

As a Cat Mom, I guess I'm into interspecies relationships.

I don't watch many movies that are made for kids. As for movies aimed at teens (Buffy), I will run screaming from the room.

NM Adult XXX movies.

The GrownUps demographic (movies for people 20+ with a corresponding level of emotional maturity) ... maybe, if it's something interesting, not too serious.

I guess I mostly look for good action flicks with likeable characters, like ... Serenity.

But as this thread is about Puss n Boots, I am too far off topic now.

Actually having a conversation is priceless these days, and stopping it just 'cause a thread title don't fit the drift of a conversation is kinda silly to me...especially when I started the thread

I've been checking back into movie lists online.
Looks like Puss in Boots is the only 2011 movie I've seen.

from 2010, I saw Inception, King's Speech, How to Train Your Dragon, Shutter Island, The Town, The Ghost Writer.

Dragon was easily the most enjoyable, but do I need to talk about it?
The King's Speech may be great, but not so easy to watch.
I recall only a little about Shutter Island, the Town, & Ghost Writer. Unfortunately, I forget most movies rather quickly.
I might want to see Inception again to get a better idea of it.
I did see The Adjustment Bureau, 2011, and liked it well enough. But I'd have to see it again before I could describe it.
I very much like the Bourne movies so far.
I haven't seen Cowboys and Aliens yet; I had no clue that it was going to be good.
