It's still not clear if we're getting international updates every day here or not.

Current worldwide gross is $851,885,247 after 11 days.

This is a profit so far of over $351 Million for Disney/Marvel.

I just heard from somebody that one of the cameo's in this flick was Wesley Snipes playing Blade. Now I want to see it even more than I did before.

ETA: According to my records in the Inside Out 2 thread, the worldwide gross for IO2 after 11 days was $761,854,032.

This means that IO2 in the 8 days following opening weekend has cut the D&W opening weekend lead in half from around $180 Million to only $90 Million.

Still not confident at all in the reporting on this one, so it's too early to make any predictions for what that might mean for the final numbers, but it doesn't look great. That R-Rating really stings. At this point I think Jaynez was right and this one wasn't ever going to hit $1.5 Billion.

It will still out-gross any Wolverine/X-Men or Deadpool movie that came before it and will be the most profitable Marvel movie in several years.

I wonder how hard it would be to translate a movie like Deadpool to Chinese... or any other language for that matter.

There's a lot of meta humor in a Deadpool movie that you have to add on top of idioms and pop culture references.

Is a Deadpool movie even funny in China after its translated?

6ix, you have listed examples of Marvel:

1) Taking your money but not giving you tangible value in return (unless you collect theater ticket stubs)

2) Wasting your time and money traveling to and from the theater

3) Filling your head with nonsense

6ix, you have done a true service to humanity by bringing this information to the world's attention. Please continue with your service. The world needs you and Trump to go on and on forever since only you two can fix it.

I Alone Can Fix It: Donald J. Trump's Catastrophic Final Year

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Alone_Can_Fix_It

In the same spirit as 6ixStringJack's list of ticket sales, I give you a list:

Smith, reviewing the book for The Guardian, wrote that the authors "have unleashed a second startling story of incompetence and malevolence in the White House."[1]

David Green, also in The Guardian, called the book "essential reading", "a blockbuster follow-up to A Very Stable Genius."[3]

Dwight Garner, reviewing for The New York Times, said the book "reads like 300 daily newspaper articles taped together" and called it a "grueling" read, "a dense, just-the-facts scrapbook of a dismal year" that included an "almost day-by-day accounting of Trump’s last year in office, from the fumbled Covid response to the second impeachment to Rudy Giuliani's public self-immolations."[4]

Garner viewed Michael Wolff's Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency, released around the same time, as a "more vivid and apt" work.[4]

Ron Elving of NPR said that in recounting conversations and thoughts of the participants, Rucker and Leonnig convey "a compelling sense of almost novelistic omniscience, as though the authors had been present and taking notes in a host of conversations they never heard."[2]

Mabinty Quarshie, writing in USA Today, said the book makes "a detailed case... that the catastrophe of 2020 was a result of Trump's proclivity to put political optics above all else, including American lives."[5]

Download the free books from the mirrors at https://libgen.is//search.php?req=Carol+Leonnig+Philip+Rucker

As in the case of Marvel movies, why waste time and money traveling to a public library or book store when you can get the books for free?

Marvel's Deadpool movies are bio-hazards. The amount of profit Disney makes from each new movie does not compensate for the direct damage those movie do to viewers, or the secondary damage to the functioning of the world caused by the screwed up thinking and generalized deranged behavior that Deadpool movies promote. Similarly, Trump's behavior promotes tax evasion, which has real world consequences for state and national budgets.

Deadpool & Wolverine has the same effect as the following:

My Darkest Joke
This next joke is so dark it made my therapist cry.
So in 2018, my little brother died.
He had a little heroin whoopsie daisy.
That's the only way that's funny.
(speaking to a dude in the audience) Dude, it gets real serious.
But a month later, my Mother, grief-stricken, she took her life.
And I know that's a little TMI and really not that funny.
But for my little sister, my big brother, and myself, that's like the worst way to find out you are not the favorite. (Audience laughs then applauds.)

See the video of the comedian telling the above "joke":

Deadpool & Wolverine comes from the same place as this "joke".

While waiting for the movie to start that you bought a ticket have you ever gone into another movie at the multi-cinema to peek at what else is showing? If you sample Deadpool 3, at almost any point, the movie is nasty. (See the joke about Mom's suicide.) When not nasty, the movie is flashing back to Morena Baccarin (Inara from Firefly) breaking up with Deadpool because he cannot stop being obnoxious. This Deadpool movie is not a morally elevating experience plus it steals your money and time. The movie is like alcohol for alcoholics who want to make beer brewers wealthy. The alcoholics would be better off by stealing the beer. Even better, stop drinking.

Still getting international updates every day I guess. They're not very impressive.

$9M in the states for Wednesday and $903 Million worldwide.

This easily makes more than a Billion. Probably makes enough to outgross that other Spider-Man movie before No Way Home too still. I don't think there's a chance in hell it hits $1.5 Billion now though.

I saw Joker on a PC, where I controlled the speed and could jump past Joaquin Phoenix's twitchy "acting" as Joker. Joker murdered his mother. Murdered a bunch of other people. Murdered Robert De Niro. Started a riot where many more were murdered. Murdered his therapist in the last minute then danced down the hallway leaving bloody footprints. Joker and Deadpool 3 got the R rating because both made entertainment out of mass-murder.

Joker was a more profitable mass-murder movie than Deadpool 3 will be:

Deadpool & Wolverine expands another 100 theaters this weekend to 4,330.

Borderlands won't be eating into any profits here. Neither will the Blake Lively romantic drama "It Ends With Us".

One more free weekend for D&W, which will easily cross $1 Billion this weekend and could even make enough to make this the most profitable Marvel Studios movie since Avengers: End Game.

It will likely have problems next weekend when Aliens: Romulus comes out next weekend unless that movie is total garbage.

I'm wondering if Disney is reporting international numbers every single day to try and stave off the chronic drops in their stock prices (Currently at only $85.45 despite currently having the two highest grossing movies of 2024 in theaters). They didn't report their international numbers for Inside Out 2 every single day like they are for D&W, but they did report them about 3 times per week. Prior to this, I've not ever seen this behavior by any studio for any movie before.

D&W sits at $925 Million worldwide after another $9 Million day in the US box office on Thursday.

And since it appears we have a virtual 50/50 split among US/International audiences here, my guess for the numbers after the weekend are around $1.010 to $1.015 Billion.

That will easily put it far past Dr. Strange 2, and put it within about $130 Million of 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home. If it can manage another $130 Million after this weekend it would make it the most profitable Marvel Studios movie since Avengers: End Game, not taking inflation into account. A pretty impressive feat given the R Rating.

Wow... I really blew it by completely ignoring the R-Rating issue here.

I just read in Bruce's article about the weekend numbers that Deadpool just took 2nd place from Oppenheimer for highest-grossing R-Rated film of all time. Joker still has first place, but only by $30 Million or so.

Deadpool and Wolverine will be the most profitable R-Rated movie in history before the weekend if Disney keeps updating the international numbers every day.

And with both of those movies being so recent, it will likely be the highest grossing R-Rated movie in history even if you account for inflation. I know inflation has been terrible in the years since Joker came out because the Biden/Harris regime has just been terrible for everyone, but there should be plenty of gas left in the D&W tank to overcome it before it drops out of theaters.

I guess I don't really see too many R-Rated flicks reach this level, so I had no idea until now how much that would change the final tally.

Lesson learned.

It appears that Disney stopped reporting the international numbers daily for D&W during its 3rd week in theaters after updating it every day.

With roughly $6 Million in the US on Monday, it now only needs $25 Million to take 1st place for R-Rated movies over 2019's Joker.

Chances are it made another $6 Million on Tuesday in the states and around $12 Million internationally in those two days, so it's really probably only $7 Million shy of that right now.

But I'm still not going to be watching alien horse cock.

That Evil Dead movie made money last year too, and I'm never going to watch it.

Yeah. Disney stopped updating the internationals every day. Must have thrown in the towel on that after their big meeting.

Worldwide gross after Wednesday, excluding Mon-Wed internationally, is now $1,047,356,036.

That's only $17 Million behind Joker for the highest grossing R-Rated movie ever. I'm pretty sure that with the international money it's already beaten Joker as of Wednesday, but even if it fell a Million short of that it will do tonight.

In order to beat Joker adjusted for inflation it needs to gross $1,309,165,692 in total.

I didn't realize it was that much until just now, but hey... Bidenflation is a bitch.

Not sure if it will be able to make that much money this late in the run given how much less an R-Rated flick makes vs. other films, but it will be interesting to see if it can.

If you don't include Spider-Man: No Way Home, this is going to outgross everything out of Marvel since Avengers: End-Game all the way back in 2019 (Not Adjusted for Inflation).

It just pulled ahead of Spider-Man: Far From Home.

That's the highest it will make it on this list. No chance it's making another $750+ Million to dethrone No Way Home. Great run though. 2nd highest grossing Marvel flick in 5 years despite the R-Rating.

I bet it ends up in 1st.

It made $133 Million worldwide last week. Definitely slowing down quite a bit, but it's only been in theaters 24 days so far.

Top 10 Adjusted for inflation:
1 Deadpool & Wolverine (2024): $1,142,616,895
2 Joker (2019): $1,309,165,692
3 Oppenheimer (2023): $1,008,511,855
4 Deadpool 2 (2018): $985,008,064
5 Deadpool 1 (2016): $1,024,777,722
6 Matrix Reloaded (2003): $1,262,565,148
7 It (2017): $899,545,321
8 Tang Ren Jie Tan An 3 (2021): $725,653,555
9 Passion of the Christ (2004): $1,036,223,032
10 Logan (2017): $788,149,462

)

The only other movie in the Top 10 that it still has to beat is Matrix Reloaded from 2003 which made $1.263 Billion when adjusted for inflation. That won't be a problem at all.

Other standouts due to how long ago they were filmed:

18 Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991): $1,190,174,844.05

36 The Exorcist (1973): $3,037,890,249.25

Oh...

LOL

Yeah... No way it's beating that.

Did anybody else realize that for most if not all of your life the highest grossing R-Rated movie has always been The Exorcist?

Deadpool & Wolverine is now the 3rd highest grossing R-Rated flick in history when adjusted for inflation.

Current Worldwide Gross: $1,211,313,606

1st Place: The Exorcist (1973): $3,037,890,249.25 [36th place when not inflation-adjusted]
2nd Place: Joker (2019): $1,309,165,692 [2nd place when not inflation-adjusted]

Unless it has extremely long legs in the back half of its run, D&W might not actually eclipse Joker when adjusted for inflation. It only grossed $68 Million worldwide during Week 5/Weekend 6. It's still got $98 Million to go and it will probably only gross somewhere around $35-$45 Million next week. The drop-off for most movies is pretty hard at this point.

$1,257,925,117 worldwide after Weekend 6.

Weekend legs were great and only dropped 17% since Weekend 5. This week we're going to see the first day that it makes under $1 Million per day in the US. Because of the low weekend-to-weekend drop it smashed through the high end of my $35-$45 Million prediction from last week with $46.6 Million.

Adding up the days since last week amounts to $22,311,511 in the US, so it would appear that around $24 Million of that still came from overseas.

It's still going to need $51,240,575 to beat Joker and take 2nd place on the all-time R-Rated list when adjusted for inflation.

If it maintains those good weekend legs for another 3 weeks and isn't yanked out of theaters internationally while there's still some money to make, it can still make that goal.

Because of Labor Day and cheap seat Tuesday, D&W still hasn't had a sub-$1 Million day in the States. I'm pretty sure that ends tomorrow though.

$4 Million + on Monday and $1.2 Million yesterday.

That gets it all the way up to $1.265 Billion though.

It only needs $43,694,720 more to displace Joker and take the 2nd spot for highest grossing R-Rated movie, adjusted for inflation.

Box office for D&W has slowed down dramatically though, so I still don't know if it's going to do that or not. I think it really depends on how long it stays in theaters overseas, unless Disney keeps it in the theater for a very long time here in the States.

If what they're doing with Inside Out 2 is any indication, this may be their plan. IO2 is still in theaters as of yesterday and it appears to still be pulling in roughly $3 Million per week, 82 days into its run. Deadpool has only been in theaters for 40 days. If it gets 82 days, I can't believe that it would have any trouble making $43 Million more even if they do take it out of theaters overseas soon.

Joker was in theaters for 154 days. I don't see that happening with D&W. Even if somebody at Disney was aware that it was really close to beating Joker when adjusted for inflation and it would do so if it got an extra week or two, I doubt they care enough to factor that into any decision making. Nobody tracks these things adjusted for inflation because nobody would ever be able to say "Biggest Blockbuster Ever!" in their headlines again.

Hell... I had no idea that The Exorcist was the #1 R-Rated box office of all time with over $3 Billion when adjusted for inflation until this thread popped up. I think my mom was still in high school when that movie set what appears to be the unbeatable record. Nothing has been able to come close to beating what is soon to become a 50 year old record.

Only $1,268,628,830 after Friday.

If Friday is any indication for D&W's future, it might not overcome Joker for 2nd place adjusted for inflation.

Bruce had predicted a 32% fall to just over $10 Million this weekend. D&W only earned $1.7 Million on Friday. It looks like more than 90% of the entire US Box office went to Beatlejuice Beatlejuice last night. If that continues through the weekend, D&W is going to have something over 60% down from last weekend, which will just about kill the potential to make another $41 Million. Especially if it hits the same internationally, assuming that it's even showing much out of the States anymore.

It ended up doing $7.2 Million for a -52% drop from last weekend. Better than expected after Friday, but still way below Bruce's prediction for the weekend.

Worldwide total is now $1,287,237,740, so that means it must have gotten around $13 to $14 million overseas, which is huge this late in the game.

It's got about $22 Million left to go to beat Joker. Will it succeed?

I think so, but let's see if it gets pulled from theaters early or not.

Boy... I think D&W is going to have to settle for 3rd place.

There's still around $23 Million that needs to be made to beat Joker, and it only made half a million on Monday after a lower than expected 7th weekend.

Inside Out 2 is still in theaters though. Maybe if it gets a really long run and there aren't too many movies that many people are excited about coming out over the next few months they may give this one a second watch.

Well... It had a $5 Million 8th weekend which doubled what Bruce thought it would do after being a huge loser last weekend.

Looks as though it got a real good bump with internationals too, likely mostly from money that just hadn't been reported until now.

$1,303,074,146 worldwide.

#2 R-Rated movie of all time (adjusted for inflation) is easy now. It will sleepwalk to beating joker before it's out of US theaters even if they don't get another international dime.
