There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I'm sure it costs them next to nothing to air TNG since they've had the rights to it for so long. What doesn't make sense is that they must have paid Warner Brothers a good chunk of change for the rights to TSCC. How do they justify paying for something then not broadcasting it?

Skyney became self aware and then decided it didn't want anyone to know what it was up to.

Running the show in a 4 hour block means fewer people are likely to stay with it the whole time. Running them once weekly will give them a longer run and better returns.

And maybe, the ratings just sucked so hard as to not make it worth the programming slot. Passe as it may be, TNG is still very popular. T:TSCC never was.

I don't know if I'd call it a "whore," but I am with you that DS9 or Voyager reruns would be cool. For awhile when I was in college, Spike aired DS9 then TNG and then Voyager from about 10 in the morning to five in the afternoon. I nearly failed a couple classes (not really, A's all the way. I just forgot girls existed. Wow, out-of-body, meta-nerd moment...)

I could definitely stand to see DS9 on the air again. Voyager.... not so much.

I'm thinking that the fact that the entire series of T:TSCC is available on Netflix instant queue is not helping ratings. Why sit through commercials and possibly miss episodes when you can watch it anytime online?

That's the reason I'm still crossing my fingers for any Star Trek to be put on instant watch.

It won't be too long a wait. All of the Trek series should be streaming by July.

T:TSCC has more potential than STNG, but STNG was more thoroughly done. It has also been more thoroughly played. I'd rather see Sarah Connor rerun because I'd rather see it get revived. There's zero chance that next gen will ever get revived, and star trek franchise is not about to die. Terminator franchise could use a boost.

Also, I'm dubious that anyone who was actually looking to watch star trek would watch it on TV instead of streaming it in high def with no ads which I'm sure you can do somewhere.

I enjoyed next gen, but the characters were very stale, lacking complexity and moral ambiguity. Even the darkest characters are still lawful good.

Also, the show almost never questions its own moral authority. It's annoying. And there was a tremendous spill over from the show of people who worked on it writing for other things and infecting them with the same unambiguous one dimensional one sided moral authority.

That, and the story flaws and what I thought were moral problems I had with it, such as the racism and machiavellian nature would have been much more tolerable if the show questioned its own moral stance, because then it would have been dark and complex, instead of just an error. Instead, when STNG was wrong, the writers were clearly wrong, thought they were right, and viewers got annoyed (exemption for Jonathan Frakes and a couple others who actually tried to make the show morally compex.)

By contrast, if Cameron is wrong, it's automatically complicated because she's a morally ambiguous character. So, for that matter, is Sarah. John is just plain boring. I don't think it's the actors fault. They were clearly much more focused on Sarah. Summer probably gets some credit for Cameron being interesting.

Here's what might have helped the show:

John had to NOT be the stereotypical rebellious teen. (He wasn't always this boring, but he did need to be more interesting.) Here are some things he could have been instead:

1) Taskmaster. There are times when he shows this tendency, and it's atypical for a teen, it becomes interesting.

2) Develop a crush on Cameron. This was hinted at and would have been nicely fucked up. Had a second life side adventure that nobody knew about. Maybe he could have been in school with kids who were connected to Shirley Manson and co. who needed a more serious reason to me there. I actually thought that Ellison was become a fifth wheel, and that Shirley and her daughter were the nicely fucked up element from that angle.

Chopping down the cast sometimes helps. Too many threads going at one. Also, any time the show got area-51-ish, I got very bored.

Stand alone Cameron eps were always fun, even when they had nothing to do with the storyline. "Alison from Palmdale" was far in a way my favorite ep, and I thought could have taken over the show. OTOH, the last time I said that about an ep. it was "Conversations with Dead People" which DID take over the show, and the result, IMHO, sucked, so I guess when I think an ep could take over the show I guess I should scale that back to "could have been a larger element, but should not be allowed to take over the show."

My biggest problem with TSCC is the way Sarah Conner herself was handled. So melodramatic. Summer was great though - actually liked her better here than in Firefly (blasphemy!).

SyFy is getting ready to relaunch it's BSG, which will encompass the first war, there about to revive the show that got them on the map. But another thing we have to consider, sc-fi as a whole, is in a state of flux right now, there really hasen't been any new or Risque shows for a LONG TIME. Then theres the STAR WARS:The Clone Wars effect, getting ready for it's fourth season, it's now heading away from it's predominintly EP1 and EP2 more comedic feel, to the EP3 way of things, were in the thick of the war now, Anakin's being swayed by Palpatine, and Ashoka is getting into more danger now, the last two eps of season 3 she was basically a POW. Me and a fam member talking bout this for months, and how he's seeing it, the dark is now gonna come out, hence more adult themes, and the later time slot.

I wouldn't get your hopes up on that one. A lot of people (including me) watched it and didn't think it was up to the quality of american idol.

>.> Hence why America is considered the dumbest country in the world. If you base all of tv off of American Idol, then you obviously don't appreciate quality tv. One the reasons i been on a Doctor Who binge lately, i mean Doctor Who's been around since the 60's, since most of our parents were kids. The biggest advantage American tv generaly has over british is, we hve longer series' Unfortunantly, though they have less eps, there all well thought out, and oh, given a chance. The biggest detriment to American tv, sides what i mentioned, is the rating system. Who is gonna watch a show at 9 on a friday night, when they could be with friends, and out clubbin'? TSCC was considered a "failure" by FOX because there werent imediate raitings, yet on tevo scales, and internet scales, TSCC was widely watched. It's a typical FOX tactict, happened to Dark Angel, and ohh, FIREFLY.

I hate American Idol, personally.

And I still think TSCC went off a cliff. Good start, bad follow-through.

Nope I hate american idol and have never watched a full episode. I'm saying it's still better TV than TSCC.

DREAMTROVE

Currently rewatching TSCC, and I have to say it is most excellent. I'm actually quite enjoying The James Ellison perspective scenes this time. Last time through I found it annoying that there were too many points of view running at once, and I would have been happy to have the whole show Sarah-centric. Ellison reminds me of Fox Mulder a little.

I enjoy the freedom from the moral mandate of the TV world, the focus on a handful of fully developed characters rather than a dozen or so stock archetypes, and it's nice to have a mix of action and real old world "what if?" sci-fi scenarios. But all of that pales to the more important issue:

The show is just welll written. There will be very little on television to compete on this level, past present or future. I'm not sure where I'd place it on a "best shows of all time" list, but I know it would be on it.

It's a different take on Sarah Connor, but not radically different, and her character is compelling and well played. Summer does a terrific job, and John is well played, I only wish they'd let him out of the box a little more. There's internal self referencing of this in the show, but it's hard to see this guy saving the world. I want to see some of that.

It's not better than Firefly, but it's better than STNG. It's worth saying that my loathing of television in general makes that I watch something more than one episode remarkable, that I rewatch the whole series mwans I think it's pretty special. I watch STNG all the way through twice. Still, Sarah Connor Chronicles is just flat out superior.
