Sounds good for Avengers. Sounds bad for Green Lantern. I was looking forward to Green Lantern but I can't think of what else he would be saying DC is doing badly. Unless he's gotten his hands on a draft of the new Superman movie that is ramping up. What else does DC have in the works?

I think this is the problem; Marvel is going all-out translating its properties to the screen and being insanely successful.

DC is. . . not. Hell, they had a Joss Whedon Wonder Woman script, and they threw it away. That's a special kind of stupid.

Well Marvel is doing well with the properties that Marvel studios itself owns. I don't know how well Spiderman and the X-men are doing.

X-men First Class just ticks me off to no end with the huge dump they're taking on the continuity of the X-men. I know that there are a bunch of different continuities over the years but this movie one just seems like it's pretty far out there. I pretty much refuse to go see it based on that. If they want to make a totally different story then just make that movie without the X-men title being tacked on. Sheesh

Hopefully Avengers will crush the box office and First Class will hit with a thud. That might be the only way to get Fox to take notice and convince them to stop playing madlibs with their scripts.

To be fair, DC did have the Batman reboots, which have been insanely successful at both restoring the franchise to it's noir roots, trading camp for edge, and not diving headfirst into wangst. Though your mileage may vary on that last one.

As for the avengers... omigosh. Really hope this movie goes well for Joss. Renewed interest in Joss is never bad.

Yeah I think that's why James Gunn said that DC is messing up (except he used potty language) everything that isn't done by Nolan. So, the batman movies are the exception. I guess Nolan is playing a small role in the new Superman movie as well. So, I'm thinking he's focused squarely on Green Lantern with his criticism.

Of course, Gunn has read all superhero scripts in development, and is making a totally objective judgment, which has nothing to do with his relationship to a certain Whedon regular who didn't get the Green Lantern gig....

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

Sequel starts rolling in January.

Continuity issues aside, I thought it was a pretty damned good movie, so Im cool with another.
