In the interest of getting to know everyone, I thought it'd be interesting to share the best and worst jobs we've ever had.

Mine:
Worst Job - From 11:00 pm to 7:00 am pulling ice cream pails (hot) from a machine and stacking them in a box. My first job ever. Lasted 2 weeks.

Best Job - Worked for 9 years with dolphins, whales, seals and penguins in several aquariums.

Anyone else?

(*edit)Put it in the wrong area! Damn!(edit*)

Best job: Doing voice work for animated/CG features Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas and Racing Stripes. I got to read lines in a recording booth with the likes of Dustin hoffman, Russell Crowe, Brad Pitt, Michelle Pfeiffer, Catherine Zeta Jones, etc. (Even got a kiss on the cheek from CZJ!!!)

Worst job: Temp job manning a complaint line for a Scientology-like supplement company for two weeks. A lot of angry, mostly older people who had been ripped off by this company. I walked out when one guy threatened to fire-bomb the office because he couldn't get the refund he was owed.

Worst Job: Many, many, many years ago (1985 or so)- I recall working a short stint working graveyard at a very big grocery store stocking shelves with items. This lasted about a month during a summer- it was a sleepless time as well as HOT and mind-numbing.

Best Job: That's a difficult one... . Many of the things I've done over the years qualify for "best", at least until I grew tired of those jobs (got a restless heart and mind). What I am doing now definately qualifies in the best catagory for me. Teaching Lab science(s) part-time at a local college. I just LLLoooovvvve working with lab equipment, playing with chemicals, and culturing bacteria... heh heh heh.

For those interested interested in all of the other things I've done (though it's not exactly a complete list) check out my profile.

SEMAHT

Best: working for self (well, husband and self :) ) at dog daycare, managing a pack of dogs for six hours.

Worst: a nationally acclaimed reference laboratory, where the bosses abused employees at the slightest whim, and which, though it was only 12 miles from home, was an hour's drive. The actual work (reading immunofluorescent tests) was fascinating, but no-how-no-way worth the rest of that crap.

Worst job: assistant manager at a shoe store (14 hour days and everything was my fault ).

Best job: Being a nanny for a really great family for 3 years, or my current one: secretary at my church.

INDIGO

Worst job: I was hired as a marine carpenter (many years ago as I was trying to apprentice as such) by a mid-size co., but I ended up *washing nasty old raingear and gloves from some of their fishing trawlers!* Yech. Sorry, done enough of gross work in the military. Plus, they shorted my pay. Got out fast.
I guess, yeh, alot of my military time was some of the worst and best jobs.

Best jobs: Few and far between, but gods have I been lucky -- I worked a few years for paleontolgists (mostly Jack Horner) in the Montana badlands and the Museum of the Rockies. There's nothing like holding the fossilized egg of a hadrosaur or velociraptor in your hands... unless it's contracting as a science illustrator on an archeaology dig in Crete, Greece. They were both hot and dusty but wow, I couldn't wait to get to work each morning!

STARPILOTGRAINGER

Not counting those 'ongoing attempted jobs' like my website which presently consume more cash than they generate...

Best Job: My current one, unloading a delivery truck at a donut store. Two days a week, only a couple hours each time, and my rent is paid, plus more.

2nd place: Summer student job groundskeeping at the Canadian forces college. Good pay, friendly atmosphere, outdoors all the time... tiring, but pulling weeds could be very relaxing.

Worst: The same job the next year. One of the more fun people had quit, and his replacement was a huge jerk, made fun of everybody as soon as they were out of the room, making it all around unpleasant to be in the breakroom or anywhere other than doing some relatively solo job. Couple of the other people were okay, but jerkface got a few of the formerly okay guys doing the whole 'make fun of people' thing too.

IAMZOE

My worst job was probably the one that led me to finding this site: it was in a small office full of the type of women who said things like 'That's an interesting skirt' and then got me to make coffee and photocopy for five hours straight. Not what it said in the job description. They had upgraded all their computers just before I got there though, and I soon figured out that I knew how to work them better than everyone else (It once took ten minutes and two people to explain to my boss how to change her screensaver) - so I spent a wee while looking around the internet to keep myself amused, and happened on this site. Which pretty much kept me sane till I resigned.

Before that one of my worst jobs was as a stunt double, where I hurt my back pretty badly and became so bored I wondered why anyone would ever want to work in TV or film when they could just watch the final product instead.

I'm still looking for a good job...!
