hey travelers,

most of you probably know about the podcast "THE SIGNAL" but just in case i thought i would put it out there for anyone who doesn't know about it. It comes up once a week and is really cool and fun to hear. It has tons of different sections, including a "how to speak chinese" section. this past week they started to analyze the names of everyone on firefly with some awesome results, in my opinion.

Listen to it and live by it, travelers!

this is a good land. And we shall call it .... this land!

- i have comfirmed that Universal TOTALLY ROCKS!!!
- can you believe that Jewel was born in Canada?!
- a lot of shocks, scares, and suprises in Serenity (woo hoo)
- Nathan (stage name: Jonny Bravo) used to host a karaoke night (LOL)

I am one of the hosts of The Signal. Thanks so much for the enthusiasm and appreciation of our podcast. Five of our production crew were together at Dragon*Con last weekend and got to meet with a bunch of our listeners & other browncoats and it was fantastic. We're recovering, but should have our next regular episode out this Wednesday as usual.

The podcast is an audio show released in mp3 format that you can download and listen to on your computer, iPod, or anything else that can play an mp3 file.

Thank you to everyone for all the very kind words.

Trust me when I say all your comments are greatly appreciated by the entire crew of The Signal. There is a very hard working crew of writers, editors, hosts and voice talent that are fans just like everyone else.

It was both gratifying and humbling to have so many Browncoats come up to us at Dragon*Con and say hello and thank us.

Remember that the ultimate purpose of the podcast is to help "spread the word" to as many people as possible. We ALL need to do our part to help recruit as many Browncoats as possible so the BDM will be a HUGH success!

Thank you all again. We just feel that we are doing our part to support Firefly/Serenity and it is humbling to see the response we get from our listeners. We get good emails, but Dragon*Con was the first opportunity we had to meet our listeners face-to-face.

The best way to get mentioned on The Signal is to send us an email. signal@serenityfirefly.com. Pre-recorded audio emails are the most likely to be published, but if you have an interesting Firefly or conversion story those are next in line.

sorry for the late response. I've had sooooooo much work to do in the past week.

anyways, this is the 9th episode of THE SIGNAL. Both Les and Kari do this show at Dragon-Con. This is the first time that they've met in person.

this week: -in defense of the train job
- The Science of Firefly part 2
- "going down with the ship" music from "Out of Gas"

my views on "in defense of the train job":
1) you can't throw "the train job" out of the firefly line up because that's when Nishka first appears.
2) i loved the holographic window!!!
3) i loved the idea of a train being robbed from a spaceship.

-Versal should also make a firefly game for playstation 2
-shiny: a firefly role playing game

My views on "The Science of Firefly part 2":
- he misses the point.

Inara meant to say that it takes less than a pound of pressure on a sharp edge to draw blood. She was implying that when she directed Mal's hand with the sword in it.
- I checked the defenitions of an amygdula and a hypocantis and he is right about those. it's vert intriguing. One reason Simon said the amygdala instead of the hypocantis might be that in the future and/or in the Firefly Universe, those two things could play a different role in the brain or they might have figured out that they were wrong before in the 21st century. If anyone knows why they did this or has any speculation, please reply.
- the reason Simon didn't put everybody else to sleep in OoG is because if he had everyone on the ship would have died anyway (no one would have been there to fix the ship or figure out a way to fix the ship)
- i agree with him about the whole Tracy situation.
- i don't believe that anything is impossible. Therefore, being a reader is not nonsense. everything cannot be explained by science!!!

- a good review
- it’s sooooo funny that Wash’s interegation was completely improvised.
- I love River’s face and how she reacts to being out in space. (I also find Simon’s reaction funny – pure terror)
