No, in short and in long. Horrible truth is, Firefly only had the one series and nothing more has happened until Serenity. No hint of whether a second series has even gone beyond Joss Whedon's daydreams.

No, THIS is what going mad feels like.

Nnnnnever gonna happen. If Star Treks anything to go by you'll have to wait 20 years for Firefly: The Next Generation :)

We didn't have to wait a decade for the BDM... a shiny sign.

Meantime, those who are interested can check out stillflying.net. This fan site is dedicated to continuing the series in the form of scripts for "new" episodes. We're finishing out season one and will then roll on the season two (which will be an adaptation of the story of "Serenity", as if Whedon had told it over 22 episodes instead of 2 hours).

"Here's how it might have been..."

Hey all, I only just joined this arvo after a long season 1 marathon. I'm a bit of a Zombie right now.
Anyway I just thought i'd mention that my sister works for a couple of magazines and had the opportunity to Interview Joss In about a week before Serenity hit the big screens in Australia. She asked him what was next as far as a season 2 or something of the sort. His response was that he is still really keen to keep making more shows and/or films but as allways $$$$$$$$$ is a large factor. He said based on the success of Serenity he will make either another film or another series (Another series would be far better in my opinion) but yeah the point is its not gonna be 20 years till you see more of the firefly crew! This was all said a few months ago (after the Joss post on this site) so im expecting and hoping for more shows to come out in the not too distant future. GOD I WANT A SEASON 2.

MALKUTH

Fox is now famous for its monumentally bad habit of cancelling promising shows, but now a new tradition has arisen. I call it the Family Guy effect. See, in our age of DVD-ified TV shows, the common person can weigh in their vote in DVD sales. Family Guy is back, and Fox is considering reinstating Futurama. Do we sense a trend?

The good news about great shows like...oh I don't know....FIREFLY is that a high number of sales like...oh...Serenity being one of the top selling DVDs and Firefly being one of the top TV shows on DVD being sold might just lead to a second season.

The future looks better for firefly than almost any cancelled show in history. DVD sales are through the roof, Sci-Fi Channel is somewhat supervising sales of Serenity, and Comcast even has all 15 eps (no pilot, ) on On Demand. I hate to be overly optimistic, but with this much press and following, Firefly might tart up again by Fox or Sci-fi as soon as next year.

It was nice to see Serenity still in TOP10 DVD sales the other day. Strong DVD sales could bring about another movie even if it goes straight to DVD...cLeRks

Actually, the pilot is On Demand (otherwise there wouldn't be 15 episodes available). It's just at the end--I think the episodes are given in the order they were originally shown, rather than the correct order.

Malkuth is Absolutely right, Dvd sales on both the series and the movie part are sky high, combine that with Joss, Tim and the cast absolute love for this project then one can only expect a second series. The only thing Joss said that stuck in my head (after watching the interview tape from my sister) was that he wasn't %100 sure whether he wanted to create another series or another film. This was a few months ago and im sure he's come to a decision but I hope to god he went for another series!
