Kaylee is not really dead. I'm talking about in the pilot when Mal tells Simon Kaylee is dead. I just want to air my appreciation of that scene.

When I first watched the pilot and Mal told Simon that Kaylee was dead I was so choked up. You then get the scene of Simon and Book running to Kaylee in Slo-mo. Simon gets there and Kaylee is there with book and says hello to Simon very chirpy. The scene then cuts to Wash, Mal, Zoe and Jayne laughing. That scene kills me everytime. I know whats coming but Mal telling Simon Kaylee is dead always chokes me .LOL

Dont.Do.This.Again!!

Slow down heart, everythings okay... she´s fine...

Yeah, that´s really a fun scene to watch. It´s some kind of deep-black humor, but its very funny ;)

YOU ARE PSYCHOTIC!

"The people who made the show, and the people who saw the show, which is roughly the same number of people, fell in love with it, a little bit too much to let it go, too much to lay down arms when when the battle looked pretty much lost. In Hollywood, people like that are called unrealistic, quixotic, obsessive... In my world, they're called Browncoats."

Yeah that scene is way funny. I would have to say the funniest thing for me was when Wash says, "Tell me again about how Jayne gets knocked out by a 90 year old man..." Yeah it wasn't in Serenity, but was in the outtakes. I watch the outtakes all the time, I also like in the flashback outtakes for the series where Wash has his mustache, then the camera pans and Zoe and Mal have mustaches too. That never gets old!

Yeah, that definately still cracks me up every gorram time. First time I saw that I was just about in tears, too. Going that quickly from gut-wrenching to pure comedy (you get the joke from the first instant you see them all cracking up on the bridge) just makes it funnier. They really should have gone and let the series open up with the pilot like they should have.

Browncoats don't die, they just get cancelled.

This is probably my all time favourite Firefly moment. You kids can keep your "I'll be in my Bunk's" and "I can kill you with my brain's", I think this is pure genius.

Being a Buffyverse afficianado, I was familiar with the Joss Whedon Rug-Pull (TM) but this was sunnink else! I remember, I was disappointed when I heard Mal say that, probably more than was warranted for a character that had at this point had a limited screen time. I thought to myself "I think you might have shot yourself in the foot a quite an early stage here..."

But, Hell... I went into conniptions of laughter. If wasn't loving every minute up to that point, I was after...

... and, shucks, I have been since...

I just introduced a friend to Firefly tonight; needless to say, that scene resulted in a good deal of laughter.
I'd already seen other episodes before I saw that one for the first time, so Kaylee actually being dead was kind of ruled out, the shot of Mal & co. laughing totally made that scene.

History abhors a paradox.

Funny. When I first saw the scene where Mal tells Simon that Kaylee died , I didnt think it was funny at all.

When Simon did that slow-motion run towards the sickbay, and found Kaylee alive and well, and then the scene switched to the bridge, and Mal and the rest of the gang were laughing, I thought "This Mal has a twisted sense of humor!"

When I saw it for the 2nd time, it was very funny, but kinda mean.

That is quite simply the best scene in the whole series and film. Kills me every time.

This scene would have worked extremely well for me too, except for the fact that Fox showed this episode LAST in the original airings, and I had already seen all the others....

SNAP

I saw the BDM first so I knew she was alive in it. But as Simon is running to the infirmary I thought she might be dead and he would revive/save her life and that is how he would prove his worth to Mal. I agree that this is one of, if not the best, scene in the show. :)

Mal is a very very bad man.

I loved that scene too.
