I'm really not poetic, but I love how they're always talking about the blackness of space but describe things nautically (ship, boat, sail, etc).

Anyway I was just watching the episode 'serenity' from Firefly and I noticed something I hadnt before. In the scene where Simon is working on Kaylee after she got shot you see Mal look at Inara, but she's not looking. Then you see Inara look at Mal but he's not looking! Its kind of a taste of what is to come from the two of them for the rest of the series.

I just thought it was very cool how they hint at it so early on, plus I had never noticed it! You also see Jayne looking in through the grate because he is obviously distraught over what happened to Kaylee. Very powerful stuff

DONCOAT

Isn't is fantastic when you catch another little detail like that? I'm still getting new things even after all this time and so many viewings.

For instance, watching the pilot episode on Universal HD last night, I noticed Book's shoulder strap was intricately embroidered. I'd never seen it before. It's just remarkable the level of detail that went into costuming, sets, props, and so on... especially given their limited TV budget.

It was almost as if they couldn't help themselves. The cast and crew were so motivated that they just had to add those touches. I'm sure there are plenty of feature films that don't get the level of care and attention that Firefly got.

Which makes it all the more confounding as to why Fox didn't "get it" and stand by it. Oh the humanity!

Well, we're still holding. Serenity will fly again. Love keeps her in the air!

I'm pointin' right at it!

ShinyLetsBeBadGuys,

You haven't been properly welcomed to this site.

I am the keeper of the 'coats, I hand out browncoats ( ok, yeah, they're virtual) to new folks and I don't believe you have one.

*hands ShinyLetsBeBadGuys a new browncoat and it's actually comfy*

There you are.

Keep reminding us of all those lovely moments and wonderful things. I have been watching tv for years and there's nothing holds a candle to FF/Serenity. Nothing. For those moments, those details, those emotions.. I've never seen it's equal.

It is those subtle things that make us love Joss and our BDS Firefly. Thanks for pointing out that forshadowing of what's to come in Mal and Inara's relationship. Don't you just love that everytime you view an episode you find something new?

I loved seeing that... and over, and over, and over...

BROWNCOATJIM

Of all of the nine characters, jayne is the one I feel we got the least of, and I really do believe there was so much could have been done with him. I always thought there were depths to him that could have been played out over periods of time, that there was more than the mindless, greedy mercenary. I always loved Ariel, when he was genuinely ashamed of his actions.
