I have started speaking in Firefly cadence lately, just the way they string sentences together, and my parents sometimes look at me weird when I do it, like *why is she talking strange?* great :-P used a few quotes too, but I can't remember 'em right now.

Or fly to the heavens that watch over you?

I have a bunch I try to use. Like I no longer try say i'm going to kill myself I say "bullet to the brainpan, squish" and make a gun with my hand and put it to my temple pulling the 'trigger' as i say squish. That gets me weird looks around the office.

The one i use the most though has got to be, "I don't disagree with you on any certain point." It's just so easy to use so often especially in my line of work (social worker.)

There's only a handful of quotes I find really useful in daily life, and that I actually use fair often, like:

"It don't make no sense."
"Could be that's true."
"I ain't saying it ain't ...."
"Way it is is the way it is."
"I do not hold to that."
"Wait a tick!"
"Didn't say 'want', said 'will'."
"Dong-ma?"
"Yes, I'm very proud."
"(...), not so much."
"Sometimes a thing gets broke, can't be fixed."

And slangy abbreviations, such as:

"Most like" (for 'very likely')
"Fair often" (for 'fairly often')

And probably a few more that I forgot to mention. :)

Sadly, nobody got it and I had to explain, which may be why I don't often.

I was out on the train a couple of weeks ago with a three-man crew. We're coming up to an interchange track, and the conductor (who's technically the guy in charge - I was just the extra pair of hands) turns to me and says, What's the plan, boss?

I gave him this o_O kind of stare and replied:

I'M the boss now?! Day just keeps gettin' better and better!

(Okay, so that was severely out of character, but it seemed like the thing to do. )

LOL good one!! love the avi btw, very cute.

My boyfriend is playing Portal *that endlessly addictive game that seems to be sucking more and more people into the deep, dark abyss by the hundreds* and there's a horribly synthesized female computer voice that keeps talking to him (not to him, more like at him) and the more 'she' talks, the less sense she makes, until finally I got tired of her and said "she is starting to damage my calm."
I've used some other quotes lately, but I can't remember them cuz I said all of them when I was at school.

i say shiny quite a lot. also 'walkin' and talkin' when replying to 'how are you?' i went through a phase of swearing in chinese, but my class picked up on it, and they aren't very discreet, so i stopped before they were detected.

gorramit often finds it's way in, also i find 'lucy. you're mouth is talking. you might want to look to that.' is often directed at me by family members. can't think why...

find myself using 'lucy is very unhappy...' occaisonally, and also 'i can kill you with my brain. i need to find a time when i can say 'and if wishes were horses we'd all be eatin steak.' (it's been used in my hous on occaison, but never by me.)

i also have been known to list all the awful things that have happened in my day and follow it up with: 'it was the best day ever.' i'm not the first to say that, but the reference is usually reconized in my family. 'my food is problematic also is useful.

there are just so many! i have to stop there, though.

Of course, like everyone, I use "shiny" often.

I also, very regular, say "gorram" or "gorrammit" as well as "rutting"

I'll throw in words in conversation, such as.

"It was high-larious"
One time at work I saw someone crying. I said to my partner, "Cry baby, cry. Make your mother sigh."

I've also said, "He understands. He cannot comprehend. "My boss was all, "What?"

Also, I've said something along the lines of "Come to the site around noon. You can pick up your earnings and be on your merry." Referring to an employee picking up his paycheck.

When I was asked why I'm working so much, I've said, "I need coin."

My girlfriend is looking for a job. We were talking about how hard it is to find one. I said, "Well, anyone who can't find work, ain't looking hard enough."

There's many more I'll remember later.

I actually got to use a one-liner of Jayne's at an opportune moment at work a couple years ago. My coworker was talking about his grandmother, and how she used to mess around in her younger days.., he went on to say, "she was quite a whore."
I responded almost immediately without thinking, in my best Jayne voice, "I'm in." I just got a blank stare from him since he didn't know what the hell I was talking about, but my mom (who was my boss at the time) cracked up quite a bit, since she knew where I'd gotten it from.
I also use, "Do the job, keep flyin'.." quite a bit. I also love Wash's outtake line, "..all's it'll do is knock out the ka-f**k-ah!!"

SERENITYVAL

I have used so many of these, they are regular speech for me. I do it without even thinking!

River from the movie Serenity
Make me a stone...(I have 3 NOISY kids used alot when stuck in traffic)

Mal from Shindig looking at the hovering chandelier,
I'm seeing the how, I'm just not getting the why
(TV commercials fit this, traffic, politics, paperwork - a great all round one!)

Shiny

Gorramit

I use Bizui (shut up) with the kids.

Mal from the pilot Serenity
Well now, that has an effect on the landscape
(use that all the time when someone adds yet ANOTHER thing to my to-do list for the day)

the corner of no and where
When in the car and people on the cellphone want to know my location! :D

Dong ma? (understand?)
use that with the kids all the time. They love that I can take them out in public and use that phrase and no one understands but them! They USUALLY reply with shi.

Mal's
Why we discussing what's already decided?
Kids HATE that one.

bao bei (sweetheart)

Nothin goes into nothin...
Jayne from pilot
when doing ANY sort of math! :D very appropriate for the checkbook!

Xie xie
My then 4 year-old blond, blue-eyed, little boy said that spontaneously to a Chinese cast member at Walt Disney World when she handed him his bag. You should have seen her expression! She laughed and said Xie xie back!

I will end you
Part of Mal's pretty floral bonnet quote from Our Mrs. Reynolds

Them ain' kosherized rules..
Jayne from Train Job
Use that in arguments alot.

Hi-larious
Jayne
Use that ALL the time!

Like waiting on a train that don't come...
Mal in Serenity
useful for checkout lines in stores :D

Were there monkeys? Terrifying space monkeys?
Mal
Any time I walk into a room that needs to be cleaned up.

We work before we play
Mal
Use that with my kids and hubby

I was weak.
Zoe in The Train Job
tease my husband with that one. :D

Good answer
Mal from the Serenity movie

Darn
Mal from Serenity pilot
Give me a real satisfaction to envision the NEXT part when dealing with someone diffcult. :D

Chain of command ...
Jayne
Nuff said.

You want to meet the real me?
Mal to Niski
A delight to use!

My favorite has to be though, Mal in the pilot Serenity...
What is, is what is
Very fitting when having to deal with what's in front of us..:D

I could go on and on...

I'm seeing the how, I'm just not getting the why...
Mal, Shindig
