He was the demon that killed the brother's mother in Supernatural. I haven't watched it for some time but I remember one episode where they had a gun that could kill it, but the oldest brother got sick and the dad offered the gun and his life if he helped bring his son back. He pretended to be a janitor till their father sussed him out.

And the guy who played Dobson played a guy named Ramone on Seinfeld.

Did anyone know that the actor who played Niska was a Scientologist? Sad times.

SHINYGOODGUY

My favs are the following:

Christina Hendricks (YoSafBridge) She was deliciously wicked in both OMR & Trash. You could never tell if she was putting on an act for Mal or if she was truly "vulnerable" and she kinda looks OK.

Richard Brooks (Jubal) That performance, in OIS, was one of the oddest and most complete possession of a character I have seen in quite a long time. He should have gotten an Emmy for his performance. Of course Fox screwed that up for him.

Greg Henry (The Sheriff) in Train Job. He's a great character actor and is really good at playing evil, but his stint on FF was down-to-earth and understated - loved it. My other fav role was the bad guy in Payback.

Shiny! Let's be bad guys!

Henry guest starred in non-villainous role in 1982's (a Time travel TV series called) Voyagers! as Teddy Roosevelt, btw. The series is worth a looksee if you are a fan of 1980s TV

Slightly off topic here but the plot of Voyagers! (borrowed from imdb.com) is as follows:

Phineas Bogg is a member of a group people called Voyagers. They help history along. Give it a push where it's needed. He is a regular human that was living as a pirate a few hundred years ago, when he was chosen to be a voyager. He travels by way of a gold pocket watch like device called an omni. When the light is flashing red, it means history is wrong. His job is to fix it. In the pilot episode, Bogg ends up in 1982 when his omni malfunctions. (He is only supposed to be able to go as far as 1970.) He ends up in the apartment where 12 year old Jeffery Jones and his aunt and uncle live. (Jones parents were recently killed in an accident.) While there, Jeffery's dog grabs hold of Bogg's guide book (basically a history book.) Bogg being a pretty inept history person has no clue what to do without his book. One thing leads to another and Jeffery falls out of the building's window. The only way to save him is for Bogg to jump out after him and travel through time. Now Bogg is stuck in time with a 12 year old kid (Jeffery), no guide book, and no way of getting Jeffery back. But he does have an ace in the hole. Jeffery's dad was a history professor and Jeffery picked up much of his knowledge. So now the two of them, travel through time, giving history a push along where it is needed.

the guest star list for Voyagers! is of interest btw:

Faye Grant who was in The Greatest American Hero was in an ep

Shanneen Dohrety (sp) was in an ep

Mako was in ep

Two actors who had characters who went up against The A-Team: William Lucking and Lance LeGault were in eps

Dana Elcar was in an ep (most famous for being MacGyver's boss/ friend)

The late David Graf, who played Tackleberry in the Police Academy movies was in an episode (in fact the same episode as Dana Elcar)

Johnathan Frakes was in ep playing Charles Lindburgh

Mills Watson (playing Friar Tuck in a Robin Hood themed episode) was in an ep

Watson is best known as the Deputy who along with Sheriff Lobo chased BJ in the TV series BJ and the Bear (and was in the spin off 'Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo' )

Judson Earney Scott [aka Judson Scott] had a role as Lawrence of Arabia in Voyagers!,
was in Several Star Trek spinoff series roles, The X-Files, and a role in the TV series V .. etcetera

Back on topic ....

Why would events in history need help? They already happenned, that's why it's called history. If anything, their intrusions into the past were likely to alter history, but the show wasn't that stupid.

Sir Warrick Harrow, aka Larry Drake, from Shindig was also in the SG-1 episode "Beast of Burden" (season 5), he was the head 'Unas Trader/hunter/mugger', sidenote: I can't help but think of Sam Kinisen (sp?) when he yells for all the unas to "Shut up!" in that episode.
Adam Baldwin landed the role of SG-11's commanding officer on season 7 eps. "Heroes Pt 1 & 2", talking about his kids 'nuclear diapers and projectile vomit' :P Everytime I see it now, I say "Jayne!" He looks pretty cunning with an SG patch on his shoulder :D

As mentioned in another thread, Michael Fairman (Niska) is now Murphy, a bait and tackle shop owner on Young and the Restless.

Over the weekend I hooked a friend on Firefly, getting thru all but Message and BDM. He said Bonnie Barlett (Patience) was on St Elsewhere as a hospital admin, and wife of real life husband Williamn Daniels. They have also played role husband and wife on 2 other shows. She was also on ER, General Hospital, and Grey's Anatomy, among many others since the 50's.

My favorites:
Nandi (Melinda Clarke) also played Lady Heather in 4 CSI episodes. Lady Heather is a dominatrix who runs a fetish house of pain. Hmm, another head-of-household role... Interesting how she's been cast as a sex worker at least twice.

This was one of my favorites too. As far as I was concerned, perfect casting choice for Lady Heather. That character has since become a sex therapist, but there is still an edginess to her.

Zoe (Gina Torres) has been on CSI as well, as a warden at a women's prison, now her real life husband is the new chief for the unit since Grissom left.

Gary Werntz (The Patron, Safe) was once "Trenchcoat" on John Doe, Dominic Purcell's first series in the U.S., long before he was Lincoln Burrows on Prisonbreak.

One of my other favorites? Adam Baldwin as Agent John Casey on Chuck. Oh my goodness. Entirely too much fun. Any coincidence that his initials are still "JC"? I think not. His name is different, but I swear, he is definitely still channeling Jayne Cobb.

This is the kind of thread that IMDb was built for. Seriously.

I actually try not to ASSUME anything. Aside from the fact that I just flat out hate how the word sounds phonetically, An assumption is only valid when there is factual information presented to back it up. And I LIKE looking up stuff.

For instance, I honestly wasn't sure what "alliterate" meant. Crazy, right? So I looked it up. "The repetition of usually initial consonant sounds in two or more neighboring words or syllables (as wild and woolly, threatening throngs)—called also head rhyme initial rhyme." There could be a whole thread dedicated to that - alliterations of MR, IS, ZW... WW

And I did write a whole peck of stuff about alliteration, my opinion on "JC" in conjunction with Jayne Cobb, blah blah blah. I even got into my own views on Faith (ooh... scary). Then I realized that Joss Whedon might have been using "JC" as his crass gunhand's initials as a very Whedonesque joke that has already been well written about somewhere else. Don't have time to look that up right now, but it sounds like him, doesn't it?

Just trying to keep it Firefly, and shall endeavor to do so.

I should admit that normally alliteration refers to first letters of the same name, such as Peter Parker, Lex Luthor, Sam Spade, Bruce Banner, Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Woodrow Wilson, Ronald Reagan - and the less often used application of a set of intitials from one character to another, as in the most notorious case of JC.
And yes, the discussion about Joss naming Jayne Cobb tongue in cheek is around, but not sure about John Casey since I have not seen that show. John Connor and the Green Mile character are very much the classic usage of JC, some consider it foreshadowing of a sort. The discussion of Joss/Jayne was not conclusive, Joss may have had a purpose intended ofr it, but the verse was terminated before many things could complete their arcs.

And just like that, not a (gorram) ASSumption anymore. Thank you. I appreciate that.

And may I point out; Wash Washburn - Woodrow Wilson. Yes, I know technically since "Wash" sin't really Wash's first name, it's reaching. It's not even a very good comparison. But again, just trying to keep it Firefly.

Just watched my DVDs of ER season one, and the pilot has Niska playing Dr Harris, who tries to hire Marc Greene (Anthony Edwards) away from the ER. Also, Richard Brooks plays the dad of a coke addict and the baby sister who came in with a cocaine overdose. Plus some of the music is the same as Firefly, I think the notes from when Kaylee is iin surgery and Jayne is crouching outside the window. This ER was 7 years before FF, maybe this music became a TV standard for these scenes? Didn't see common music credits, so either a standard or it was maybe copied from ER.
Of course, the Jesus alliteration was the new doc, John Carter (Noah Wyle).

Doug Savant was on the 'NCIS' episode "Weak Link" .....with Adam Baldwin and Julie Benz....hey, it's like 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon but different (I know Julie Benz is, not from FF, but still).

Just finished watching season 1 of Bones, must be a browncoat in those parts. Lead actor is some Boreanaz guy, Adam Baldwin was on an ep, the only series mentioned between other characters (not including Bones herself, which many cultural references are made to point out her aloofness) is Firefly, and also Erica Tazel, who was Doralee in Safe. Also had Alex Carter from Due South, so I'm liking this show.

Have not watched Las Vegas much before. Was flipping through channels with not much else on, and see a partial shot, teeth, chin, upper torso shot and familiar voice with wierd accent - could that be? Yup, Morena Baccarin playing a murderous Arab wife. Episode called Burning Bedouin I think. Watched the whole rest of the ep just for her.

The visible shot was partial because on the dish netwrok when tuning a new channel, the top quarter of the screen is some summary garbage they plaster on there.

From Shindig, Murphy the older gentleman who saved KayLee from the rudeness of Banning. He was Dash Riprock. Plus his first movie was alongside Jeffery Hunter, James Best, and Raymond Massey. Among many other roles. (Larry Pennell).

Today I started off with a very nice surprise.
I turned on one of my favorite shows from childhood reruns, this time on The ME Channel (Memorable Entertainment). The Big Valley.
And I find the Guest Star for the episode looks familiar. Yep, it was Larry Pennell, playing a professional Boxer/Fighter. I have seen this episode before, but I had not placed the actor as being Larry before. The episode was from Feb 1967, so that was 50 years ago. The episode takes place in 1877. His wife is played by Sandra Smith, the only other person to play (in 1969) Capt James Kirk (besides Shatner) prior to 2009.
