Saw it last night with mah kiddo.

Not the worst Marvel movie in the bunch (*cough, Thor), but not the greatest (for us, Dr. Strange and Ragnarok), but then, she doesn't exactly have a whole host of celebs in the movie to back her up, either. It's just her and Sam, and I've never seen her before in ANYTHING.

Samuel Jackson is actually the comic relief in the movie. It's a lighter version of Fury, and you find out why it's just "Fury" in the movie. And, you find out why he gets an eye patch. The hair they glued on him was distracting, they should have worked it into the movie that he had to shave it off somehow.

There are going to be quite a few things for the cinema sins people to pick apart, I can't wait for THAT. Fortunately, the movie is mostly free of stuff for the incels to whine over, like female empowerment (the horror), and there is only one veiled but intelligent and funny jab at Chump when a Kree refers to Earth as a "real shithole". Perspective! Also, who the good guys turned out to be has some analogies to current events and logistics...But, for the most part, it's just a gal doing her job. There's plenty of pokes at the reality of living in the 90's, so Nostalgia! The only real negative is that there were aspects of the movie that reminded me of Green Lantern, with the whole "space special forces thing".

Overall, it had a decent amount of humor and action, but it just managed to hover instead of soaring. There were only a couple of short spots where I was bored, and maybe five minutes of good headwind at the end where she "finds her mojo". The extra shots at the end were pretty predictable.

We could watch it again, but not anything I HAVE to watch again. We give it a B+.

Won't see it any time soon, but best reviews I can tell seem to conclude it wasn't the screaming Feminist diatribe we were told ( and some had hoped ) it would be.

Decent at the start, then boring, then finally good again, but not great.

The cat was cute.

Ben Mendelsohn makes a good villain.

Younger Nick Fury had some good lines, but honestly, SLJ shouldn't be doing any fight scenes at his age. Some things that CG just can't fix.


Brie Larson looked nice in the suit ( from the front, at least ) but they picked the wrong person to play this role. Her pre-release antics didn't help anyone. Not herself, the movie or the MCU over all.

But it doesn't seem to be a complete disaster. So they've got that going for them, which is nice.

Funny that there's any gen'd up, artificial pride in there FINALLY being a positive, strong woman in the MCU.

The franchise is full of them, from Pepper Potts, Black Widow, Peggy Carter, Gamora and Nebula, Valkyrie , Shuri, Ayo, Scarlet Witch...

And of course, Wonder Woman kinda put that whole tired argument to rest, so please. Brie and the wahmen did themselves and the MCU a great disservice, more than they know.

You know, it's funnier... but I don't personally know any women who were obsessed with there being a standalone female hero lead (perhaps that's why we got one AFTER black people and a dozen white male lead movies), but I know plenty of men who are obsessed with a woman GETTING a standalone hero lead. Like it unvalidates some portion of the white male ego. Women have much bigger things to worry about.

As GI Jane perfectly explained...The problem ISN'T WITH WOMEN.
You guys dedicated a whole thread to whining about it here, did any of the women here even really care? NO.

The comments by us MEN were only in response to Brie's childish snarky outburst, concerning 40 yr old white men, and of course the array of 'woke' wahmen across social media who were clamoring for this movie to be something which no fans actually cared about , but SJW Marvel felt compelled to shove down our throats.

Only a few short scenes. He's aged a bit these last couple years and it was obvious they did a lot of cleanup to make him look younger. I'm not quite sure why they bothered, we "get" it's the 90's and they are actually people and aren't actually younger. Hollyweird needs to learn to "hang a lantern" on it with an age joke and let it go already...It's like what they did with the last pirate movie and Depp, although they did better work with Coulson. I spent half the movie trying to figure out what they edited off of Sam, between the hair and the editing he looked a little alien himself. I just compared a picture from the movie and a present day pic and it's clear they took out every contour around his eyes and gave his skin a matte finish so they could digitally blend it. They should have just given him a great moisturizer and saved a few hundred thou The face job wasn't as bad as the hair though, looked like they glued felt to his head...

Her comments didn't alter the movie, but it did rub enough the wrong way to change how some VIEW the movie, because they simply don't like her - at all. Not a move a clever girl makes when trying to endear herself and her product to the franchise.

I'm out of touch because I don't know what's going on in the MCU?

It's not a question of money. I don't watch a majority of these things when they're free or near-free after the fact either.

I think KODI was the thing that did it for me. Not the fact that it was free, because I got rid of cable 10 years ago and still watched a lot of movies I had downloaded, so free hasn't been an issue for a very long time.

It wasn't that it was free. But it was free with the addition of being automatic. Downloading and then setting everything up to stream and keeping things organized was work. It was free, but it was still work.

KODI completely devalued it all in my mind to the point where I lost all interest. I'm glad that it did. Binge watching TV shows is no way to live. Netflix even knows this and adds 5 minute videos to your queue that are secret and only play when you've watched too much at one time. Ask me how I know.



If not having an opinion on Captain Marvel or whatever the next big movie means I'm out of touch, I'm alright with that.



As for not being wiser, you're half right. Choosing not to watch TV or Movies and not walking around with a smartphone alone doesn't make anyone wiser. What they choose to do with all that free time, however, can absolutely make one wiser.

I feel confident I'm spending a majority of my free time wisely.

I am better than you. I make smarter decisions than you. I never worry about my future, let alone how I'm going to put food on the table. For every 6 days I work, I get 8 days off of work to do whatever I want to do. I saved more than half of the money I made last year on top of it.

I learned how to fix damn near everything on my car, and by summer time I'll have it driving like it's brand new and only spending less than $1,000 doing it vs. paying somebody else $3,000-$4,000 for the labor. I learned all of that on youtube for free.

You're fat. Your husband is fat. Your daughter is fat. You eat a bunch of shit food. You can't live without your happy pills... Which... let me tell you Princess, they don't seem to be doing you much good.

You hate the world, and you're one of the most miserable people I've ever known.



But what do I know. It must feel great wasting $50 to go see the most mediocre MCU movie ever made with the family so you have something to talk about with all the other uninteresting, backwoods, inbred hicks you live with in Nilbog, IN.

You're talking in circles now, because you either don't get it or you're trying to avoid the fact that , universally, despite the $ it drew in from fanboys, CM is still a crap movie.

Why ? Because of lame plot holes, miscasting of the lead character, her idiotic comments before and since the movie's release... it's generally being panned by viewers despite the fact that it's perfectly situated as a lead up to End Game.

This has ZERO to do w/ my ego, as evidence by the videos of others I posted. I WANTED this movie and Brie to be a home run, until she started yapping about movies not being MAADE for those of a certain skin color or gender. Screw her. Movies should be made and enjoyed by ANYONE who cares to watch !

Oh, and the worst pay off in cinema history might just be how Nick Fury lost his eye. Good frelling god, the ONLY reason this movie did well at all is because its tie in to the MCU.

Brie's comments were laughable & demonstrably false. The movie was cringeworthy and had few redeemable parts. She's woefully miscast ( many thought Katie Sackhoff would have been a better choice , as do I ) . Many dislike her, what she said , the ' wokeness 'crap from the movie , and said so on their own.
