Likes to mess with stuffs.

Want a Serenity sequel? Proactively do the following before the weekend is over.

Step 1: Along with yourself, treat two of your friends to 'Serenity' this weekend.

Step 2: If either of your friends like it, have them go again and treat two of their friends under the same conditions.

Step 3: Repeat process before weekend is over.

Make Serenity #1 opening weekend and the media will PR the thing like crazy come Monday.

Sure, it might cost some of us $30, but think of it as an investment towards the sequel.

Go and spread the word.

and which planet is haken watching 'serenity' on?

$30 would get two people in to see 'serenity' once here in tassie (aus) and that DONT INCLUDE MUNCHIES!!!

but still it would be $30 of the best dollars i could EVER spend!

jayne's gonna be eating steak this weekend!

Already there!

I'm dragging my sister and her husband (two stout anti-Joss people if ever there were any) to Serenity on Thursday night.

Not sure if the movie will change her mind, it's likely (because it's awesome), but she's just as stubborn as I am. My brother in law, however, I'm certain will love the film.

And if he loves it, others will listen to him. Yup. My fiance's friends will definitely be convinced to go and they love just about anything (hell, we're talking about people who saw The Forsaken at the movies, fercryin' out loud).

And, also, my friends and I are going again on the Sunday.

I might even drag my mother on the Saturday (she *loved* the advance screening and is champing at the bit to see it again).

That's a good four viewings for me, with multiple, multiple people with me. Yay!

edit: not sure how much the Australian takings are going to affect the official weekend opening figures, but I'm sure it couldn't hurt. The fact that every screening was sold out within hours, and mostly minutes, of being released is something for the big bosses to take note of. Even Thursday's opening sessions have already sold out. It's phenomenal.

Sounds good. I know me and my mom plan to see it the opening weekend and then Im gonna try to take my uncle to see it. Ill have more luck the second weekend, when I take my friend, her sister, and their parents to see it.

We need the most money in the first two-three weekends. Seeing this movie mutliple times is not money wasted!

Brilliant!

Only one problem... most of my friends are already browncoats. I actually never found this out until one DnD game when the DM decides to name a particular sword "Vera". I look up and realize I'm surrounded by independents.

Well, no use preaching to the choir. We'll be watching it together, most likely, but now we gotta find new recruits for the second and third viewings. KF

Kizyr,

"You know that you are surrounded by Browncoats when..." A sword named Vera. LOL

We're hauling some friends to Serenity, too. Or maybe they're hauling us, since we lent them our Firefly DVD.

Yeah, I'll be going with nine friends, and we'll all be wearing orange Jayne hats, so we can frighten mallgoers and movie theatre employees alike. It's gonna be great!

I made a new friend this year who I found out later was as big a browncoat as me. I've also managed to convert four others from the DVDs. I'm not sure how many my friend has brought into the fold, but with them and their significant others, we will have at least eight for Friday night and more for Saturday.

Family. Acquaintances. Co-workers. Strangers you meet on the street. I'm not kidding!

On the OB, people are starting a "you're coming with us" campaign:

Basically, buy some extra tickets every time you go, and offer them for free to others in line (especially those who seem like they haven't decided what to see -- doesn't help if it's someone who already planned to buy tickets to Serenity)

Serenity is coming. 9/30/05.

SHINY idea Haken! I'm planning on asking a friend of mine (who is a - horror of horrors - a HUGE Star Wars fan) opening night, and if he likes Serenity, I mean loves it, then maybe he'll take his friends to see it. Then maybe I can con my Dad into going with me on Saturday.

Of course, my friend just might go with me if I offer to pay his way...which I was going to do anyway. Then of course if I remind my supervisor at work that it comes out Friday, she might either go with me Fri. night or Sat.

By the way does anyone who lives in Delaware know where it will be playing??

Seeing it all weekend with a number of people- fan and non-fan alike. Yeah, I'm one of those nuts who'll see a film 4+ times in a day if I'm game... took the day off from work. It'll be fun.

While I would love to go, I need to find a gorram THEATER running the BDM in my area...and I am having no luck. Does anyone know where the closest theater to Sierra Vista, AZ (actually, Ft. Huachuca) is that is running Serenity on opening weekend?
If I can find one, I can the considerable percentage of my barracks that I have gotten hooked on Firefly to add to the figures...and probably a good number of the rest to whom I have just preached the virtues of the show...and the evils of Fox. Judging by the response of my fellow MI troops, if I could just find a showing within a decent travel radius (preferably in Sierra Vista), then I could convince them ALL to go...and to bring their friends.
So...does anyone know where Serenity is running in Arizona? If you do, please post back, and, better yet, e-mail arprest@aol.com or aeriongrey@yahoo.com. I REALLY want to see this premiere (I have yet to see any other new movies the last six months, I have been that busy converting my fellow members of the US Army to the joys of being a Browncoat, and really want to get all of these Army Browncoats (and myself and about seven friends) to the premiere.

People listen in from all over the country, so check out the site www.fanboyradio.com leave messages on the boards, call in during the show. Can't stop the signal!

I'm really cautiously optimistic:
I've turned dozens of people onto the show,
they are all planning on seeing the movie
(even though they've never been to any sites online)
and I've talked to others who never heard of the TV show,
but are very excited about the TV ads they've seen,
so THEY are planning to go the first weekend.

I think we're going to do well
(knock on wood)

Our family's soon-to-be seriously depleted pocketbooks plan on taking 4 newbies on Friday night and six others on Sunday. We will also be going a second time on Sunday to make up for not going on Saturday. If you can only get a few friends to go, make up for it by going extra yourself. Every ticket sold makes a statement that Browncoats stick together and Serenity rocks!

Keep flying everybody! Let's do this opening weekend up right!

Just do like Nathan said and smuggle in your own munchies so you can save your snack money to see "Serenity" again.

well, i will do my best to see the movie more than once (i am trying for 3 times opening weekend...1 on friday, 1 on saturday, and 1 on sunday). as for taking as many people as possible, that will be harder to accomplish. no one i know likes the show...Can You Belive It!!! i feel so alone here (in my neighborhood)in my quest for fans like me. but since i seem to have a bit more spending cash than most this weekend, i will drag people to see it anyway...on my own dime...my wallet will suffer, but 2 people all weekend long is a good chunk of change. i just hope that the studio's will bring the show back to life.

Captain Tight Pants...what a spectacular image!!!

Another suggestion:

Midnight showings never sell out. Buy a ticket to a midnight show, even if you can't go. That way nobody's denied the opportunity to see the movie, but the ticket price goes into the weekend gross.

Vote with your dollars!

ok I need some help convincing people. Most of my friends just write me off whenever I talk about it, any ideas? I'm going with one of my friends and my brother on opening night, then I think I'm gonna go with my dad on Sat, then my friend and I are gonna try to go again next weekend, but that doesn't help get more people involved...So what has worked for y'all?

oh, and Sunday would still help, because it doesn't just need initial weekend gross we need to show like a lasting effort. And I always bring my own food to theatres, its way to overpriced otherwise. Its easy for the laides cause we just bring a bigger purse :) Or, if you are going to a theatre at a mall, and they have a dollar store, thats a cheap way to get the same candy at a film.

My friend would never go for that, even if they did like the movie, they woudln't follow through with taking 2 people with their money.

Also, my local theater isn't playing the movie so we have to drive far out of our way just to go see it, but its worth it.
