Nathan Fillion has won Cinescape's Face of the Future Award at the 2002 Saturn Awards for his role as Captain Malcolm Reynolds on Firefly.

Fillion beat out Shawn Ashmore (X2), Eric Bana (The Hulk), Eric Balfour (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre/Veritas: The Quest), and Shane West(The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) to win the award.

Notice his competition? Fillion is definately big screen material if you ask me.

It probably helped that some of his competition was from movies that aren't out yet. =/

I think that's more of a sad comentary on the state of the genre, versus the state of the awards. If they're so hard pressed to find quality sci-fi (even though there's supposed to be channel dedicated to it) in the combined catagories of TV AND film that they have to pull from unreleased movies, maybe that should be a clue that someone ought to try to fill that niche as I'm sure it could be very lucrative.

Mrs. Peacock - "No, just death, isn't that enough?"

The sci fi channel is really dedicated to the clasic cheep sci fi, thats why it's so incredible that they made farscape, and have been doing SG-1.

If you want to see what the sci fi channel is about, watch tremors.

You do understand that Firefly will end up there?

River: The human body can be drained of blood in 8.6 seconds, given adequate vacuuming systems.
Mal: See, morbid and creep-ifying I got no problem with, long as she does it quiet-like.

Nathan Fillion isn't unknown to the silverscreen. He had breif parts in the movie "Blast from the past" with Brendan Frasier. Very glad his career went UP!!
