Having announced their Fall lineup, FOX has finally made their cancellation of 'Firefly' official.

Also gone is FOX's 'John Doe,' which followed 'Firefly' on Friday nights when both series premiered last Fall.

Nothing surprising, but I hate to see the official word!

It's funny, when John Doe first came out I really liked it.

Once Firefly was gone, I realized I didn't like it -- I was just in such a good mood from watching Firefly, that John Does just basked in the glory!!

Fox execs wouldn't know a good show if it come up and bit 'em on the ass.

Same here.

Looks like we won't be seein' them unaired eps air this summer.

After next tuesday I won't be watching Fox anymore. Hey, I heard Fastlane was lookin' at the sharp end of the ax. Can anyone confirm that, so I can start dancin' on its grave?

DOBSON: I'm supposed to be meeting my wife's sister. I've only got a few days to see her...

ZOE: I wish there was another way...

DOBSON: Oh, no, no. That woman is like a dragon. I mean, I believe she has a tail. If there's any other moons we need to visit, or if we could just
fly very slowly...

I don't trust Fox anymore. They cancel everything I like. Firefly was just the last straw. SciFi on tv seems to be a failing art form these days. Fox has better taste in shows then other networks but I'm tired of starting new ones with them.

Seems like I read somewhere that Fastlane was dropped as well. Hope it's true. Hate to be spiteful, but why should that get to stay on the air when Firefly was cancelled?

Yep, here it is:

I actually saw John Doe before I even heard of Firefly, and I really liked it.

John Doe just started over here, nice to know I'm watching yet another show that's already cancelled anyway.. although after having seen Firefly, pretty much every other show just seems bland and lifeless..

Wasn't the deal that Fox had all the first-run rights to Firefly, meaning no one could air the unaired episodes, until they did? Also, basing this on half-remembered anecdotes, this might free up the rights for video, DVD and almost certainly shopping it to other networks.

This might be a blessing in disguise.

How does that figure in with the broadcasts over in the UK? Is it a limitation that's only applicable State-side?

History doesn't always repeat itself. Sometimes it merely shouts "Weren't you listening the first time?!?" and lets fly with a club.

Overseas rights are odd, I have no idea how this affects them, but if it's anything like with books it's shouldn't at all.

"Officialy dead"? Who the hell are they trying to kid?? The weasles at FOX didn't care about Firefly from the get-go or they would have waited for a better time to premier the show other than the bloody WORLD SERIES. (I sure hope someone lost their job over that boneheaded decision.) Firefly was DOA.
I don't watch anything on FOX (not even football anymore) except "24"...and I wish it was on FX because FX seems to be what FOX was in the beginning: a renegade network that cared about doing something a little different.

I recently began watching firefly on sci-fi uk and became instantly hooked. I was dissapointed to here the show had been cancelled. Hopefully someone else will take it onboard.
I searched the internet to see if i can get a copy of the first series on dvd but had no luck.
Is it possible to get it and if so i would be greatful if somebody could point me in the right direction, (prefferably from a british based company)
thanks

Word is that the DVD for the first season (which I think is American for first series) in being produced, several of the cast members and Joss have reported doing commentaries. Should be out around December (?)
