This is incredible. Top Five out of 10,000 DVD's sold by Amazon, for a DVD not even released for five months.

I wonder if Fox feels SO dumb but refuses to admit it?

BUTTERFLY

Well us here in the UK cannot buy the Firefly DVD from Amazon.com cos it's only being sold in the US/Canada format only (region 1). God knows how long we have to wait for it to become available over here. Considering we're just watching Firefly on SCIFI UK channel, it'll probably be released in the summer of 2004!!!

Still, have just watched 'Trash' last Monday which you guys in the States never got to see so I don't feel so bad. Will get the chance to watch it again on Friday, Sunday AND again on Monday. Very happy that SCI channel choose to repeat each episode 4 times!!

fox will be feeling very dumb about all the money they will make from the sale of DVDs of Firefly. They still own the rights to it, yes? Same reason I wouldn't like Firefly to go to

20th Century Fox is different from Fox TV network. I'm not sure which ones would own the rights in this case.

FYI, folks, got an email from Garth Franklin, who runs http://www.darkhorizons.com/news.htm Down Under. He described the news of Firefly's Amazon availability and rating as "cool." To prove it, the item is up on Dark Horizons in today's news (admittedly a small snippet, but there's another source of info for future fans...not to mention a link to FFF as a bonus!)!

Actually, I'd sent almost the exact same email to AICN, Cinescape, and TheDigitalBits. Dark Horizons was the only one to respond, and run the bit. Please, however, do feel free to send the news to anyone you see fit. Perhaps getting more than one e-mail on this topic will cajole Harry (who is probably up to his ears in "tips") into running it on AICN. Why not give it a go?

Would it be that they've already sold the quantity of DVDs that they have on order? I would think that would mean they just order some more... I have no idea what sort of lead-time is required for a "manufactured good" like this.

I think they only have an alotted amount that they can sell (either on pre-order or total) and they have to ask for more from the manufacturor even though it is it won't be out til Decemember. Hopefully, they will order more so they can be on pre-order again soon. I think they just weren't expecting our little canceled

While it is an inspiring, proud-making thing to have sold out the pre-ordered stock in a matter of days, this is nonetheless worrisome. You see, our little notices have yielded new fruit, this time in the form of a news item on Cinescape (which listed us as "alert fans." Shiny, eh?

There isn't really any reason to focus on Amazon, is there? REALLY- selling out one specific vendor and none of the others noticing does little good- sell out ALL of the vendors!

I see it's a 4 disk set. Best Buy wants more money than Amazon but it's still worth every penny!
