What America needs is a Re-Unification Day with the United Kingdom. Perhaps on the 4th of July would be appropriate :). That way when England goes to war we can make the Americans join us rather than the other way round.

The only way to enjoy the best of the UK with the best of the USA is to move to Canada... sit back, have a beer or sip your tea, bitch about politics, and watch a TV system which has loads of crappy programs from both the US and the UK (as well as crappy homegrown stuff too). Oh yes, and we have good dentists here too...

We would have to kick the French our of Canada before it could really be a UK/USA state.

I think you will find that Canada is not part of the U.S.A. Got to respect French colonies after all.

There's ale in the UK! Although you could argue that ale is a subdivision of beer, but I'd argue that any "beer" made in the US will tend to be Badger-fluid rather than the proper stuff.

I have not consumed an pilsner beer in almost 20 years. If I cant have a Guinness or Newcastle or something along those lines then I won't drink at all.

I dunno... while I do like some British "ales" (one called Fursty Ferret, in particular), I have also tried some of the dark bitters... most immediately reminded me of rancid motor oil... and I have found that some US "beers" are either diluted versions of Canadian beer or simply suck in their own right.

My invite, for the record, was for the consumption of Canadian beer, another example of taking the best from what the US/UK has to offer, then making it into a unique Canadian product...
