Cult Favorite 'Doctor Who' Coming Back

A new series of the cult sci-fi TV series "Doctor Who" is in the works and will be on the screen within two years, the British Broadcasting Corp. said Friday.

Very cool news!

I've heard that Alan Davies and Sean Pertwee are being considered for the role.

I reckon Sean Pertwee would be the coolest! Not only is he Jon Pertwee's son, but he's also a brilliant actor in his own right (umm... things he's been in that people might have seen... Event Horizon, first series of the Cadfael mysteries, Dog Soldiers, 51st State...)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he fancies working for the BBC!

The plan is for a six part mini series that could grow from there. The guy who produced the UK "Queer as Folk" is behind it; he also wrote Who novels during the Virgin "New Adventure" books. No details as to actors the last I looked; the Alan Cummings/ Eddie Izard/ Denzel Washington/ Sean Pertwee/ Rupert Giles/everyone else rumors having been floating about for years, and are largely fueled by fan wishes.

In the meantime, BBCi has released online animated shows. Links can also be found at outpost gallifrey.
