Serenity has just been nominated for a Hugo award, under the category of "Dramatic Presentation: Long Form". It's running against some stiff competition, including "Wallace and Grommit", "Haryy Potter" and "Batman Begins".

The Hugo Awards, named for science fiction pioneer Hugo Gernsback, are the science fiction community's most prestigious awards, given out each year since the early 1950's; they will be presented at the Worldcon convention taking place this year in in Anaheim, California on August 26, with several of the writers expected to be in attendance. Only people attending the conventions can vote for the Hugos.

If Serenity won the hugo this would be a huge deal for fans. You can read the whole list of nominations here:

P.S. In 2004, when "The Message" and "Heart of Gold" were nomainted for the Hugos the episode "The Message" lost to "The Two Towers Golum Parody" (from TTT DVDs) by only 14 vote for the award for best "Dramatic Presentation: Short Form".

P.S. I would post this on whedonesque.com if I was a member. I hope someone over there notices this news soon.

This IS good news! Since the Saturn Awards basically ignored our crew, except for Summer, I'm happy to see it getting some recognition where recognition is due.

Congrats all around!

SHINY! This is so great that there is recognition beyond our humble ship of the good work of Joss and the WHOLE cast!

Here's hoping they surprise everyone and take the category!

Rock on with the Hugo nomination.

Another thing I saw there was the three nominations for DOCTOR WHO and it's episodes "The Lonely Child/The Doctor Dances", "Dalek" and "Father's Day". I hope that either "Dalek" or "Father's Day" wins. For those who have seen it, they know that it's eaily the best of the nominated eps. (havn't seen "Pegasus" yet) And for those who havn't seen it, wait till it's broadcast on SCI-FI. You're in for a treat with the absolute best sci-fi has to offer.

Peace

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

About gorram time Joss & the cast got some recognition.

Hopefully we can bring home this award. It would sure make a great selling point to new people.
