Just saw a trailer today and I could have swore Nathan Fillion was in the trailer... so I looked for the list of actors and sure enough:

I did a little search and it turns out he was also in Saving Private Ryan (which I did not know).

Hopefully its a good movie.

Nathan's role was admittedly somewhat smallish, but he saved the film fer sure.
Lead actor Tom Hanks recalled, "Fillion saved our collective Canadian bacon... um, Canadian bacons." And later added, "Is "bacons" a word?"

I'm scared...but I am still going to go see Slither. I'm going to wear my Hot Topic Universal Official Serenity Logo shirt. And a light jacket to hide under.

Waitress already filmed and in post-production. No release dates yet.

White Noise 2: The Light filming.

Nathan has a page on Internet Movie DataBase which lists his birthday (March 27th) and every movie/tv episode he has been in.

http://imdb.com/name/nm0277213/

says Nathan played Minnesota Ryan in Saving Private Ryan

I'm hoping that Slither turns out to be the perfect horror/camp-cheese that made Lake Placid and the Evil Dead trilogy so enjoyable. It certainly looks like it could be, while White Noise 2 on the other hand... I have to be honest in that I never attempted to watch the original White Noise due to the awful reviews it received.

I'm a horror fan, and from the reviews I read, "Slither" is gonna be great, campy, yucky fun!
BTW when I first saw the trailer to "Slither", I hadn't seen Firefly or Serenity yet, and when I watched a clip of the movie last week, I was like, "Nathan?". And I think it rocks he's in that movie, because I was already psyched about "Slither" before, and now THIS! Plus Nathan deserves to be in more movies.
I'm not the kind of fanboy that has to see everything else an actor of his favorite show has ever done in his life, but I sure as hell appreciate coincidences like this.
Yeah, okay, so I DO want to see everything Summer was in, even if it involves mammoths, but that's besides the point since I am going to marry her one day.
OR I'm gonna drool over pictures of her in my secluded room and fantasize about her dancing and smiling just for me. I haven't decided yet.

Back on topic... Knowing that an actor like Nathan with his perfect comedic timing, ability to do great looking action stuff and overall presence is gonna star in a movie I was already psyched about before makes me all jiggly.

I dunno about White Nose 2, though - I don't think it's gonna have a lot of comedic elements or action sequences, which I guess is what Nathan is best at because that's how he is. I haven't seen him in a lot of other stuff, though.
The first "White Noise" sucked, and it sucked mostly because it had wasted POTENTIAL. Halfway through I thought I figured out what was going on and loved it, and then it went all message-from-the-future-murder-mystery on my a$$. (I hope I'm correct in considering this a warning rather than a spoiler, but I think anyone who has seen the movie is going to back me up on this).
So part 2 might be a good movie if they just take the angry ghost concept, because I thought the movie would be about something like angry ghosts or demons catching and torturing newly-deceased humans, and those are trying to get help, hence the White Nose stuff. A terrifying concept, knowing there could be beings who snatch your dead S out of Limbo and prevent you from going to Heaven or Nirvana or whatever.
It's the same kinda scary like "Night of the living Dead", where the most terrifying sentence is "Oh my God, it hurts to be dead.". Or "Evil Dead", where people will not only die, but be in purgatory forever. However, the first part went into a whole different direction, and if they take the whole "preminition"-concept for part 2, I don't wanna see it.
Be that as it may, I don't see Nathan fit into this, but I'm more than willing to be surprised by his artistic palette as an actor.

Let's hope (and pray to our dear and fluffy Lord) that Whiter Noisier or whatever it oughta be called gives Nathan a chance to demonstrate his range as an actor without getting him typecast or being such a dog that it bends his career. He needs to be able to pick his projects, something which isn't happening for him yet.

I long to see him do light comedy.

Then something really dramatic.

And Firefly in between.

As long as he'll be willing to come back onboard the Serenity for the same money he would have gotten before becoming a superstar, I wish for him to have all the fame and success he can get. Same goes for everyone else. Of course we want all of them to do really well - but if they do too well they might not be that interested in doing TV work anymore, and even the money for a sequel movie may be well below their standards by then. Not to question Nathan's or anyone else's "loyalty", but you never know.
I'm gonna come up with a meaningful, totally original sentence to prove my point now... Hm. Wish. Careful. Careful what you wish for.[TM] That's it. Because, you know, you just might get it.

Agatsu, I think he'd do Mal again if given the chance. Mal is his, and there's more to do with the character, as he says.

I wish him the power and time to do just that, and any other project which takes his fancy.

There's a difference between being a Star and being a Screen Actor. Many of the latter have satisfying, lucrative careers and lots of respect without having their lives screwed up by Stardom. If Nathan falls into that category I'll be very happy for him.

I've just come home from seeing SLiTHER and Nathan is not Mal in this movie. Well, he has the same face, heh, but for the film he acquired the beginning of a good ol' boy paunch, and although he otherwise looks *like* Mal, he's Sheriff Bill.

I wasn't expecting to see Mal in Slither, but I'm excited that Nathan is starring in a movie that I was psyched about before seeing Firefly/Serenity (My browncoat is still new and shiny. Kinda embarassing. ). And judging from the trailer, it's his kinda role, even if it isn't Mal. It sucks that I'm gonna have to wait for the Fantasy Film Fest this summer to see Slither.
But yeah, I think Firefly would be something that Nathan would come back to regardless of how big he gets (if he does, and except if it's in a TV series format), sort of like Ben Affleck in Kevin Smith's movies. You know, it's family.
BUT! Has anyone ever considered what it would be like if they couldn't get the whole cast together?
Hm, as a matter of fact, don't answer that question - I'm gonna make a new thread for that, because I'd like to hear people's thoughts on it without hijacking this shiny thread.
