Sorry if this has been posted before, but just wanted to make sure everyone saw that the new issue of Wired Magazine (an American technology mag, not sure if it's international) has a paragraph called "Why Firefly Will Never Die," about the eforts to raise funds for a fan-sponsored second season. I know this topical is controversial, but you can't beat a headline like that!

I believe that was the April issue of Wired (we get it). There was an excellent "editorial" in Wired news (online) that someone linked to a few months ago. It had a great comment about Firefly. I don't have time to dig for it right now, but maybe someone else will know how to find it.

It said (roughly) "There's this thing called Firefly, I'm not sure if it's a cancelled TV show or a new religion. Either way, prayers for the resurrection are required."

Here are a few more details. The date on the mag is May 2006, but I'm sure subscribers got it in April, which may be some of the confusion. It's in the May 2006 Wired, with Al Gore on the cover with the cover title "Climate Crisis!" The story's on p. 68 and says,

Why Firefly Will Never Die

Joss Whedon's Firefly was canceled in 2002, but don't tell the Browncoats. These superfans continue to produce weekly podcasts and engage in live-action role-playing games inspired by the TV show. Browncoat Andrew Schultz recently raised $1,300 in 24 hours to help Fox produce a second season. Studio officials scoffed, saying that fan funding is "simply not a realistic scenario." But the Browncoats aren't giving up. They're looking into licensing the rights to create and distribute new Firefly episodes on DVD or on demand -- an arrangement that would cost millions. "I have no doubt that there will be new stories, whether they are in comic book form, a movie, or a new TV series" Shultz says. "It'll happen; it's just too good to let die." -- Timothy Sprinkle

There's a picture of two guys in brown coats, with the caption: I am Superfan! Shultz (right) runs Browncoatsriseagain.com.
