Likes to mess with stuffs.

As many browncoats may have heard by now, uber-Firefly fan, Kerry Pearson a.k.a Lux Lucre, passed away recently due to complications with an illness. While I didn't know Lux very well personally, we did exchange emails for a period of time last Fall to work out the details of possibly adding a filk section to the Blue Sun Room on FFF.NET. I thought it was a great idea and told Lux that it'll be ready in a couple of weeks.

Well, being busy and the procrastinator that I am, a couple of weeks soon turned into four, and soon after that--like many things in my life--it just fell off my to-do list. But Lux never forgot and made the time and effort to check on my progress without complaining--even after an entire month had gone by.

I remember thinking that Lux's life was probably just as busy as mine, but he made time for the Firefly he loved--the fellow Firefly fans he loved. What I didn't realize at the time was that Lux had all these wonderful Firefly filks written that he wanted to share with everyone on FFF.NET. I'd only found out after the filk section was completed and he posted a whole series of them. If FFF.NET had a karaoke room, I'm sure he'd buy everyone a couple cold ones while singing all those wonderful filks.

Lux really loves Firefly, and not in a way like how I love it by just watching it on TV and then putting up a website, but in a way that's more personal. I can tell that he finds great joy in being within the Firefly universe. You can see it in all his creations. Everything from his Firefly South Park characters, to his Browncoat Handbook, to the Firefly product ads (I especially like the Kaylee 'Got Milk' ad) said something about Lux and brought out something wonderful and innocent in those of us who saw his work.

For me though, it'll always be the filks that'll remind me of him, and I would like to dedicate the filk section on FFF.NET to him by re-naming it "Lux Lucre's Filk-O-Rama." So next time, when you get the chance, grab a couple of cold ones, sit back, and sing a few of Lux's filks from the Blue Sun Room with him. I think he'll enjoy that.

Well put Hakken, and a fitting tribute to a great man. I only hope I can someday have half the impact on the Firefly fans that he had in such a short time.

Also... I can kill you with my brain...

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Truly a fitting honor to one of the greatest Firefly fans to ever grace us w/ his presence and enthusiasm.

An honor indeed, and very fitting.

May we always remember why it was named that.

Keep flyin' Lux, and everyone.

ALIENZOOKEEPER

I'm sad to know the mad browncoat filker won't be around to keep us luaghing with songs and Firefly Park.

I'd like to thank him, a little late, but not never, for the Browncoat Handbook and the artwork I dld off of GURPS: Firefly. It's the thing that finally got my friends interested in watching and roleplaying Firefly.

Vivat Lux, or something like that-

d*mn, i'm tearing up.

Wow, Kerry is gone. Damn. I knew Kerry even before I knew about Firefly. He did a great Flash presentation, "The Philosophy of Liberty" that I made into a screen saver for him.

http://www.isil.org/#animation

He also had a few other really funny flash files that he made. He's got a ton of stuff at http://www.luxlucre.com/

Him and Ron Crickenberger in the same year. 2004 really sucks.

He's gone, but not forgotten. I'll hoist a fine Scotch to him tonight and give him a 21-gun salute, Jayne style, the next time I go out to the range.

Thanks for the info and the kind words,

Photuris pyralis

Six shots, then drop it.
