EMPIREONLINE.COM - Last month, when Iron Man 3 was hitting cinemas, Joss Whedon hit the red carpet to support his Marvel colleagues and got talking about his work on writing Avengers 2. He dropped a hint that a brother-sister team could feature in the sequel, with speculation jumping to Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Now, Whedon’s been chatting with IGN and confirmed that the duo is at least in the current script draft....

Apparently Fox has responded by adding Quicksilver into X-Men Days of Future Past. Meaning we could end up with two different versions of Quicksilver soon.

I think it's funny that IGN is trying to make that a big deal when the X-men movies have been giving us different versions of the same mutants time and time again. We've had 3 different versions of kitty pride so far, right? A couple different versions of Emma Frost. Really doesn't seem like movie goers care for the most part.

They also claim that Avengers won't be able to use their aliases of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. So, they'll just be Wanda and Pietro. I don't even know if most people will make the connection.

Didn't they already have him before Joss made his announcement?

No biggie to me.
The various franchises are totally different universes to me, so I wouldn't care if two different actors are cast.

Neither are important charcters, plus they both started with the X-Men. I don't know why Joss has any interest in these 2.

Were they ever members of the X-Men?

IIRC I read an interview where he said the group they had in Avengers 1 was a bunch of mostly brawlers. He wanted to add some characters with different abilities.

I was never a big Avengers fan, so my history may be off, but I seem to remember Scarlet Witch being a member of the Avengers for many, many years, through the 1970s and 1980s.

She and Quicksilver were also part of the first "non-original" line-up of the Avengers (along with Hawkeye), under Captain America's command. Many folk don't realize that Cap WASN'T on the original team.

It makes perfect thematic sense to consider them as options for the sequel. I wouldn't be surprised if Joss does something akin to the first Mission: Impossible movie, starting with one team that gets trashed, which would probably include the siblings and Hawkeye under Cap's command... And then Cap has to "get the gang back together" in response to the initial defeat.

I've double checked just to be sure, Evan Peters will play Quicksilver in the next "X-Men" flick...which as all of you know is made by the evil FOX Studios.
