While speaking with Sci Fi Wire, actor Kevin Spacey confirmed reports that he has been asked to play the role of Lex Luthor in Bryan Singer's new SUPERMAN movie. "They want me to do it," Spacey told the website. "It's all a matter of scheduling."


Spacey has two reasons why he's mulling over the decision to go bald or not. First, he'd again have the opportunity to work with Singer, the director of one of the actor's most memorable roles in THE USUAL SUSPECTS. Second, since SUPERMAN is a big-budget, high-profile tentpole film it would give Spacey more opportunities in the future to do smaller scale pictures or theater projects without having to worry about money matters.


"You get paid more money when you do those kind of movies," Spacey added. "I do more independent movies and I certainly produce more independent movies than big studio films. I want to be in the game, and being in the game allows me to do the other stuff that I want to do. So I'll always try to balance that. SUPERMAN is a big franchise; there's no doubt about it."
