America loves a winner!

Got bored.
Really bored, and started watching this anime thingy.
I'm not a fan of anime. Never have been. But because of boredom…

Wow, what a messed up pile of go-se this stuff turned out to be. I mean, giant nekkid Titans with no discernable junk yet who roam the countryside seeking normal sized humans to smash and eat alive, all Jack and the Bean Stalk style... creepy AF!!

But I can't stop watching. It's so bad. So much talking about feelings and how scared they are because they don't want to be eaten alive, and yet... so much talking about their feelings and how scared they are because they don't want to be eaten alive. Instead of running away or choosing to fight for their lives, they just ...you get the idea. More talking, feelings, being scared.

Am I missing something here? Is this supposed to be GOOD anime or basically is it all crap like this? I can't figure it out.

Internets to the rescue.

Seems the Titans ( confusing, w/ the new Legendry's monsters called that as well) have a long time history in the fictional world of this manga.

Seems the creator of the story is very political, and there's suggestion that the plots and characters in the world parallel that of Japan's history and the conquest of Korea and China.. IDK. Point is there's more to this than just 30-40 + ft tall humanoids walking around chomping on people like sticks of beef jerky.

Not sure I'll watch beyond the first season. But yeah, I've got a feww books lying around the that need reading and maybe some which need re-reading.

So there are 24 episodes in season 1. That's Old school. I'm used to 8-12, but those are usually hour long, but still.

Oddly, they changed the intro at least once, and the theme music too. No idea what's up w/ that.

I'm at ep. 21. I decided after the last one I'm gonna quit outright if I can finish this 1st season.

It's just too damn weird for me. I can't get into the Titan 'verse, at all.

The movie was pretty good as Japan direct top DVD style B movies go, the movie it at least has actors it seems to be more structured with a more linear story and less crazy cartoon plot twists, I will straight up admit I dont get Anime

I prefer the Classic Golden era of Japan film, Kuroswawa's Seven Samurai, Stray Dog, Onibaba , Rashomon the joint US Jpn production Tora Tora Tora is also impressive

I liked Akira, Spirited Away also and the anime tv show Psycho-Pass seems good but bleak and shocking, One Piece is silly and fun caught a lot of it one dailymotion and youtube some years back, Fullmetal Alchemist is probably one of the nicer shows for just simple fantasy animation and sound and story, they will probably make a movie on this Fullmetal Alchemist one when the world finally gets back to normal I think I prefer the Whole HongKong Action genre of movies rather than animation or maybe German, French or Italian, South American or Aus or indie American films and South Korean films are great though, South Koreans are without doubt leaders in movie making now and others could learn a lot from them.

Medieval Steampunk meets Spider-Man meets the weirdness of Jpn anime

I would suggest a real tv show 'Into the Badlands' its a bit more grounded but also a little out there
I admire these shows for their ability of 'universe building' so to speak.

Megaupload and Megavideo used to be the place to be they had star ratings on their shows and movies but I think eventually most of their content was illegal, FBI got them or interpol or someone, I hear it shut down by the UN or Feds

Dust videos was my latest watch, they are not movies they are not shows but dozens and dozens of short films or animations, sci-fi short films

I still don't get it, from what I seen of the Japan cartoon the show had some Godzillia and WorldWar-Z vibes...but very unique

maybe I just didn't get it, fighting stabbing slashing like a Asia Samurai, some of the drawings of building had a very Germanic Swiss Dutch Austria feel, 'The German Town' look, people jumping around like Spider-Man with these Batman style wires that help them swing through the air
