Seriously though, it's not too late. If the BDM is successful then I think there's a pretty good chance we'll get backstory on Book and Inara. We may get some in this one for all I know (I haven't seen it and am trying to remain as spoiler-free as possible). But I think if-I mean-when there are sequels, we'll get Book's backstory because it's a mystery and I think Inara's will come out as part of the development of her relationship with Mal.

I'll bet that somewhere in the trillogy we'll find out just what that syringe is filled with. Inara's story was apparently something very amazing that Joss never got to tell us, and I'm sure he's just itching to let us know.
