I was at Fangoria in Chicago Yestarday to see the Cap'n, and was in the 300 people who got to go see the pre-screening of Slither.

I thought it was very good (3-3.5 stars) and I am NOT a fan of horror fliks.

The plot was there and solid, as was the acting.

Aww, Dog, I'm envious. The outtakes I've seen of Slither and also the little mini thing Nathan got to do around the set with a camera seemed very funny.

I love it when Nathan does the funny stuff!

I am going to see this movie, under duress... I don't like horror movies either, but I LOVE Nathan, so.....

My husband loves these things. I'll look away when Nathan isn't there and look long and hard when he is. Even if it gets a little gory.

Couple of questions.. Does everyone think this is going to be a big hit for Nathan?

Also, Dog, did you get to SEE our Cap'n? If so, how'd he look, and what did he say and what did he wear? Ok,ok, enough with the girly questions.

LOL

You do know that Slither is a parody of horror of right? It isn't really a horror film in the strict sense.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

Yep, I do. It still looks gory though.

My husband is a huge fan of Tremors ( horror parody too, I believe). Less gore than Slither I think.

So we're goin'. I'm sure I'll laugh.

It'll be fun to see Nathan being funny. I love the Firefly eps where he gets a little humor in.

The convention went fine and all, and I got a lot of great stuff.

I was not a 'gold atendee' therefor I didn't get 'preferd seating' therefor, I had to wait for many people to get my Cap'n autograph/picture.

So, finally, the gold people are done, and I get to get in line only to be told 'the actors are getting cramps from the autographs, and are stopping.' I was the next person in line.

Nathan is cool. I'm a big fan of our Cap'n. What I'm not exactly a fan of is horror/ slasher flicks. Just don't see the need for 'em. ( Horror/suspense is fine by me though ) I very much liked Pitch Black, which is more scifi/horror....anyways, I'm gonna drag 2 friends to see Slither. They're not thrilled over it, but it's my B-Day ( March 31st ) and that's my call. One friend heard a radio ad for Slither, and then called me - Are you sure this is what you wanna see ? , she asked.

See, it's post like that which I need to see. I'm gonna trust my Browncoats on this one. This looks to be some simple minded fun.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

I may have to drag myself out to see this. I like me some cheesey horror anyways. (I'd rather see a horror movie that doesn't take itself too seriously... And I've been too desensitized, I think, to get too creepified by more "serious" horror. Anything now that really gets to me is usually a little too... disturbing, for my tastes :)

Anyways, from what I've seen looks like some good-times horror stuff in the line of Tremors/ Evil Dead, etc... Might not exactly explode at the box office, but anything with one of our Heroes in it I guess is worth me shelling out money to see it in theatres. ;p

I was at the screening, too. I wouldn't call it a parody, though. I would call it "horror with humor." It is very funny, very bloody, and it's a smart movie about some kinda dumb people. But it really respects the characters, and Nathan is great in it. Actually, the whole cast is good.

I'm looking forward to this movie. I thought that James Gunns' remake of Dawn of the Dead was done pretty well (aside from Mekhi Phifers' character). I would see it for that alone. Helps though that Nathan is in it.
Also, whenever I see the previews, it reminds me of Night of the Creeps.

OK...saw SLITHER on Saturday. Smallish crowd, but it was in the afternoon. Capt'n was darn good. Movie was decent. It definatly had its moments. Some funny, some flat out gruesome/cool, in the horror movie sense.

Select to view spoiler:

As good as some parts were, I kinda felt like it was missing something. Not sure what. Nathan gets stabbed in the gut yet once again and of course survives. He might be setting a record for on screen abdominal injuries that don't kill him. ( Shindig, Out of Gas, SERENITY ) I can see the cult appeal for those fans of horror, as Slither does play up on some well known themes. The guy getting whipped/sliced right in half was nicely done..well, if you get my meaning. I wasn't too keen on the slugs though, or the whole alien's M.O. They ONLY go through the mouth of the ir victims, when pretty much any cavity into the body would do. Grant got speared right in the torso. At the risk of being crude, the young girl in the bath tub certainly could have been 'infected' via other ways than her mouth. ANYWAY....

Slither was a fun 'summer' time movie, which opened in Spring. I wonder how it'll do and I can't help wonder again if SERENITY would have done better had it opened in April, and not Sept.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss
